POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Hybrid Property, Corporate & Development Accountant is responsible for the accounting and financial reporting of a portfolio of multifamily properties, corporate entities, and real estate development projects.

This role supports monthly close, financial reporting, development accounting, lender draw requests, budgeting, and corporate accounting while partnering with Property Management, Development, and Executive Leadership to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with GAAP and company policies.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manage the monthly close process for assigned property, corporate, and development entities.
• Prepare and review financial statements, journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analyses.
• Support accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash management, and treasury functions.
• Maintain accounting for development projects, including project costs, cost allocations, capital expenditures, and construction draws.
• Prepare lender and investor draw requests with supporting documentation and reconcile funding to project costs.
• Track development loans, interest capitalization, fees, and repayment schedules.
• Assist with budgets, forecasts, and financial reporting for management, lenders, and investors.
• Partner with Property Management and Development teams to provide financial guidance and resolve accounting issues.
• Support annual audits, tax reporting, and lender/investor compliance requirements.
• Identify and implement process improvements to strengthen internal controls and reporting efficiency.
• Mentor junior accounting staff and maintain current technical knowledge through ongoing professional development.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 5+ years of accounting experience in multifamily real estate, corporate, or development accounting.
• Experience with construction draws, project accounting, and lender reporting preferred.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and real estate accounting principles.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills with exceptional attention to detail.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• CPA or CPA candidate.
• Proficiency with Yardi Voyager required.
• Experience with affordable housing, LIHTC, HUD, or subsidy accounting.
• Experience with corporate consolidations and construction/development accounting.

• While largely sedentary, this position requires the ability to sit, stand, and lift up to 20 lbs., speak, and hear, sometimes for extended periods of time.
