Job Description

We are seeking an insurance industry expert to join Alert Labs as a Senior Account Executive, developing new relationships with insurance carriers and brokers across Canada and the United States.

This role is focused on new business acquisition within the insurance industry and requires a candidate who brings genuine credibility within the insurance space, someone who speaks the language of underwriters, brokers, and risk managers, and who understands how technology can be positioned to reduce losses within a client's portfolio.

This is not an account management role; it's a proactive, high-impact sales position ideal for someone who excels at cold outreach, pipeline management, and value-driven conversations grounded in real insurance industry expertise.

Position Overview

The Senior Account Executive is responsible for driving new business across North America through proactive outreach, account development, and solution-based selling focused on insurance providers.

This role requires a combination of hunting with a focus on long-term value creation; someone who thrives on finding, developing, and building new business relationships with carriers, brokers and managing general agencies (MGA’s).. The ideal candidate combines deep insurance industry knowledge with technical fluency in risk and loss prevention technology and is comfortable operating as a trusted advisor to carriers and brokers on both sides of the border.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and execute a strategic sales plan targeting insurance carriers, brokers, and related partners across the US and Canada
Identify, qualify, and close new business opportunities within the insurance sector, with a focus on developing long-term partnerships with insurers.
Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key decision-makers and influencers, including underwriters, risk engineers, and brokers
Present and demonstrate water monitoring hardware and software solutions and programs tailored to client needs, translating technical capability into measurable loss-reduction outcomes
Collaborate with internal teams to ensure successful implementation and client satisfaction
Maintain a robust sales pipeline, balancing near-term milestones with long-term programs
Stay informed on industry trends, regulatory considerations, and emerging risks related to water damage and property loss
Represent the organization at industry events, conferences, and networking functions across North America

Qualifications

Recognized expert within the insurance industry, with a proven track record of success in B2B sales specifically within insurance
Ten or more years of demonstrated technical expertise selling risk and loss prevention solutions to insurance carriers, brokers, or related stakeholders
Strong, demonstrable understanding of how to reduce client losses within an insurance portfolio through technology and risk mitigation strategies
Direct experience working with insurance companies based in the United States is required
Must be able and willing to travel to the United States, approximately for 3–5 days each month as a core function of the role
Strong understanding of the insurance landscape, including property risk and loss prevention
Experience selling technology solutions (hardware, software, or integrated systems) is highly preferred
Demonstrated ability to manage complex, cross-border sales cycles and close high-value deals
Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
Self-motivated with a results-driven approach and strong business acumen
Valid passport and ability to travel internationally without restriction

Education

Post-secondary education in Business, Marketing, Communications, or a related field is considered an asset but not required

Compensation – Waterloo, Ontario

This role is based in Waterloo, Ontario and follows a standard 50/50 base-to-incentive structure:

Base Salary: $120,000 – $155,000 CAD, commensurate with experience
Performance Incentive: Up to $120,000 – $155,000 CAD, paid upon achievement of 100% of assigned annual quota
On-Target Earnings (OTE): $240,000 – $310,000 CAD
