Metro Transit’s Capital Division has an exciting career service opportunity for Information Technology Project Managers II. This position will be dedicated to project management, on large, multi-year, multi-million dollar Metro Transit technology projects.
These projects may include customer-facing information systems, internal management information and business process systems, transit vehicle operations and communication systems, or other transit-related systems.
Metro's Capital Division Transit Technology Project Management Team
The Transit Technology Project Management unit within the Capital Division’s Project Delivery section provides project management from initiation through planning, procurement, development and integration, testing and implementation to steady state with operational teams.
Each IT Project Manager manages one or more concurrent Metro IT projects through the full project management life- cycle, ensuring project completion within authorized scope, schedule, and budget.
The team's project portfolio includes a wide-ranging and challenging variety of capital projects for transit applications and systems including real time customer information, electronic fare collection and mobile ticketing, on-board systems, scheduling and route planning, vehicle dispatch and telematics, asset management, wireless network communications, transit signal priority, enterprise architecture, business intelligence, capital project management and reporting, as well as other system enhancements and life cycle management.
This recruitment will be used to fill a career service position and may be used to generate a pool for future Career Service, Term Limited Temporary (TLT), and Special Duty Assignment (SDA) positions that may occur in this classification.

As an Information Technology Project Manager II you will:
A Bachelor's degree in technology management, engineering, computer science, transportation planning, business administration or a closely related field AND five years of experience as an IT Project Manager or IT Business Analyst with more than 3 years' experience on major IT projects with budgets greater than $5MM or longer than 2 years in duration OR Any equivalent combination of experience and education which provides the applicant with the skills, knowledge and abilities required to perform the work.
Demonstrated history of managing and leading change, ensuring project execution and quality while successfully managing and mitigating risk.Application & Selection Process

Work Schedule
This position is exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act and is therefore is NOT eligible for overtime pay. Work schedule is normally a 40-hour week Monday through Friday. Variations may be required depending on the demands and needs of the work.

The primary location of this position is in the King Street Center (201 S. Jackson St., Seattle, WA) Telecommuting is possible.
Teleworking Requirement
The work associated with this position will be performed predominantly in a hybrid work environment working in the office and at home. Employees will have access to shared workspaces at various King County facilities. Employees must reside in Washington state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements.
Employees may be provided with a County issued laptop and must maintain a workspace with an internet connection (access may be supplemented in some situations) where they can reliably perform work and remain available and responsive during scheduled work hours.
Please note that when an employee conducts work that is likely to bring them in contact with another individual, safety precautions are required, including the wearing of masks in some situations. King County is doing its part to reduce the spread of COVID-19 and remains committed to reducing our carbon footprint.
