Workflow Business Analyst

Role Overview

The Workflow Business Analyst (BA) will play a critical role in bridging business requirements and Appian-based digital solutions. The role involves working closely with business stakeholders, product owners, architects, and Appian delivery teams to analyse, define, and support the delivery of process automation and case management solutions using the Appian low-code platform.

Key Responsibilities

• Requirements & Process Analysis
• Engage with business stakeholders to elicit, analyse, and document functional and non-functional requirements.
• Facilitate workshops to understand current-state (as-is) and future-state (to-be) business processes.
• Translate business requirements into Appian-ready functional specifications, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
• Identify opportunities for process optimisation, automation, and digitisation using Appian capabilities.
• Appian Delivery Support
• Work closely with Appian architects and developers to clarify requirements and ensure alignment to platform capabilities and design standards.
• Support backlog grooming, sprint planning, and prioritisation activities in an Agile delivery model.
• Participate in solution design reviews to ensure business intent is accurately reflected.
• Support integration requirements involving external systems, data sources, and APIs.
• Testing & Quality Assurance
• Define and support functional test scenarios and test cases.
• Coordinate and support User Acceptance Testing (UAT), including defect triage and resolution.
• Validate delivered solutions against business requirements and acceptance criteria.
• Stakeholder & Change Management
• Act as the primary liaison between business users and technical delivery teams.
• Support change impact assessments, training needs analysis, and user enablement activities.
• Assist with production readiness, go-live support, and post-implementation reviews.
• Documentation & Governance
• Maintain high-quality documentation, including process models, requirements artefacts, and decision logs.
• Ensure adherence to delivery governance, security, and compliance standards.
• Support audit and regulatory documentation where required.
• Required Skills & Experience
• 5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, with hands-on experience on Appian or similar low-code BPM platforms.
• Strong understanding of business process management (BPM), case management, and workflow automation.
• Experience working in Agile / Scrum delivery environments.
• Proven ability to write clear user stories, functional specifications, and acceptance criteria.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and facilitation skills.
• Experience supporting UAT and production releases.
• Desirable Skills & Experience
• Appian certification (e.g. Appian Certified Business Analyst or Appian Certified Analyst).
• Experience in banking, financial services, or regulated environments.
• Exposure to integration patterns (REST APIs, data services, external systems).
• Experience working in onshore–offshore delivery models.
