The Associate Accountant is responsible for supporting the organization's financial operations by managing client billing, accounts receivable, account reconciliations, and financial reporting activities. This role ensures the accuracy and integrity of financial transactions, resolves billing discrepancies, and supports process improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency.
The Accountant plays a key role in maintaining compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), supporting audits, and collaborating with internal departments and clients to ensure accurate financial management.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the end-to-end client billing process, ensuring invoices are accurate, timely, and compliant with contractual agreements.
- Perform billing reconciliations and funding settlements, researching and resolving discrepancies.
- Support accounts receivable activities, including invoicing, cash application, collections follow-up, and account monitoring.
- Collaborate with clients and internal departments to resolve billing issues, payment discrepancies, and account inquiries.
- Maintain accurate financial records in accordance with GAAP and organizational accounting policies.
- Prepare and analyze account reconciliations, identify variances, and recommend corrective actions.
- Assist with the development and implementation of new accounting processes and operational workflows.
- Participate in continuous process improvement initiatives to improve efficiency, scalability, and financial accuracy.
- Collaborate with finance, operations, and client-facing teams to ensure financial data integrity.
- Support internal and external audit activities by preparing documentation and responding to audit requests.
- Assist with additional accounting and financial operations projects as assigned.
Minimum Education & Experience Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
- Minimum of three (3) years of professional accounting experience.
- Experience with client billing, accounts receivable, financial operations, or accounting functions required.
- Experience working with GAAP and financial reporting practices.
- Experience using enterprise accounting or ERP systems.
- Experience in healthcare, insurance, or financial services environments preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Experience managing billing operations, reconciliations, settlements, and accounts receivable.
- Proficiency with ERP and accounting platforms such as SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or similar systems.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including data analysis and reporting.
- Strong analytical, reconciliation, and financial problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to identify discrepancies, investigate root causes, and implement corrective actions.
- Excellent organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with finance, operations, clients, and cross-functional teams.
- Ability to prioritize multiple assignments while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong understanding of financial controls and accounting best practices.

- Experience supporting healthcare third-party administrators (TPAs).
- Experience performing client-level reconciliations and funding settlements.
