METRAC partners with individuals, communities, and institutions to change ideas, actions, and policies toward ending gender-based violence. Our activities are focused on public education, legal information services, youth prevention programs, community safety audits, community-based research, and social policy initiatives designed to improve systemic responses for ending gender-based violence in Ontario.

Supervisor: Executive Director or ReAct Youth Program Director

Hours of Work: 35 hours per week, 7 hours per day (Full-time)

Salary Expectations: $49,000 per year

Position Summary

The Program Manager reports to the Program Director/Executive Director and is supported, trained, and supervised by the ReAct Youth Program Director/Executive Director.

The PM’s role is to lead the reporting, coordination of planning, implementing, and evaluating METRAC’s violence prevention program for youth ages 10 to 29 years, known to be at higher risk of experiencing gender-based violence (GBV) within Ontario /Canada.

This position will support hiring and guide the orientation of hired Peer Educators, and will coordinate and co-facilitate support groups, educational sessions to equip youth with knowledge and resources about healthy, equal relationships with self, peers, and families, and how to reduce and prevent GBV; increase mental health wellness; reduce stigma and isolation.

This position will also facilitate and present anti-oppression, and GBV workshops in the community.

Responsibilities

• Ensures METRAC’s mission and strategic priorities are being met through the Program;
• Develops and executes Youth Violence Prevention Program Plan;
• Co-leads virtual violence prevention education programs with diverse youth, inclusive of Black, Indigenous, People of Colour (BIPOC) Two-Spirit, lesbian, gay, bi-sexual, trans, queer, intersex, asexual and non-binary young people (2SLGBTQIA+ and non-binary) residing in Toronto, the GTA, Ontario, and expanding across Canada.
• Provides logistical/administrative and facilitation of online and/or in-person afterschool and summer programs, and other community-based workshops/trainings;
• Responsible for the coordination of recruiting, hiring and orienting peer facilitators as needed;
• Facilitates job-training and skill-building activities with ReAct Peer facilitators;
• Engages Peer Facilitators in monthly team meetings, clinical supervision, professional learning and development activities;
• Coordinates in-person/online outreach and liaises with community agencies and partners;
• Collaborates with internal/external partners to plan, implement and evaluate ReAct’s activities intended to increase youth access to cross-sectoral/interdisciplinary services and resources;
• Ensures ReAct’s initiatives are aligned and integrated with other METRAC operations, including community programs (i.e. safety audits and youth justice education), projects/services, administration, fund development, Board Committees, and equity education;
• Collects, analyzes and shares program data with program funders and supporters, i.e. activities, outputs, impacts, and outcome narratives/stories
• Leads reporting processes and writes reports to account for funded program activities
• Coordinates research, production, and distribution of program materials, resources, and strong social media messages;
• Maintains positive and respectful relationships with facilitators, staff, managers and community partners;
• Participates in METRAC’s events, staff meetings and staff development opportunities;
• Participates in management meetings and supervisions;
• Participates in Board and staff Committees to fulfill strategic directions, as requested;
• Prepares and submits monthly program reports to the Program Director/ED;
• Support the completion of grant funding in line with the program objectives and trends
• Assists with special events (i.e. fundraising, forums, AGM, volunteer training);
• Be available to work some evenings and weekends and be willing to travel.
• Other duties as assigned.

Record Keeping

• Maintain healthy budget records and expenses
• Maintain program data and statistics

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education and/or previous experience in managing teams and projects,

facilitating anti-oppression workshops, and/or working with community groups and

community social service programs.

• Solid understanding of the issue of gender-based violence against women, girls, youth, and

children, and 2SLGBTQIA+ and non-binary youth

• Experience working within a feminist, anti-oppression framework
• Demonstrated commitment to removing barriers to safety, as experienced by

marginalized communities, especially youth and children

• Experience managing employees and coordinating youth programs
• Experience with youth community development, violence prevention, popular education,

health promotion, and outreach to diverse stakeholders

• Excellent group facilitation and problem-solving skills. Conflict resolution skills are an

asset

• Familiarity with Toronto and GTA organizations that serve youth
• Above average confidence in speaking, advocating and presenting to diverse communities

and decision-makers

• Solid skills in collating and analyzing data, information, and report writing
• Computer literacy (word processing, e-mail, internet, social media, research) is required
• Ability to work well independently and collaboratively as part of a diverse team
• Strong written and oral English communication skills; proficiency in other languages is an

asset

• Ability to multitask and to work in a community agency with limited resources
• Valid Police Reference Check for working with vulnerable groups
• Excellent interpersonal, time management and capacity to be organized
• Possession of a driver’s license is an asset.
