Senior Accounting and Process Optimization Consultant - Currency Settlements

Teleion is seeking a Senior Accounting and Process Optimization Consultant to join our team and deliver hands-on accounting expertise to our clients. In this client-facing project role, you will split your time between two complementary areas.

Roughly half of your work will support our clients’ Corporate Accounting functions by owning and executing currency settlement activities and the accounting for cross-border and multi-currency transactions, ensuring results are accurate, complete, and compliant with U.S. GAAP. The other half will focus on business process optimization, partnering with client accounting teams that today have little in the way of documented or automated processes to build standard operating procedures (SOPs), gather requirements, and design more efficient, controlled, and scalable workflows.

You will be a key contributor embedded within client teams, partnering closely with the client’s FP&A, Treasury, Tax, Legal, and regional accounting stakeholders. The successful candidate is a seasoned individual contributor who thrives in fast-paced accounting environments, brings both technical accounting depth and a process-improvement mindset, and bridges diverse stakeholder groups.

Responsibilities

Currency Settlement & Corporate Accounting (~50%)

• Own and execute the client’s currency settlement processes, including the settlement of intercompany and third-party balances across multiple currencies.
• Perform foreign currency accounting, including remeasurement and translation (ASC 830), and account for realized and unrealized FX gains and losses.
• Support intercompany accounting and eliminations, ensuring cross-border balances are reconciled, settled, and accurately reflected in the client’s results.
• Partner with Treasury on FX exposure, hedging activity, and settlement timing, and reconcile settlement activity to bank and ERP records.
• Contribute to key components of the client’s month-end and quarter-end close, ensuring settlement-related deadlines, reconciliations, and journal entries are completed accurately and on time.
• Prepare and review supporting workpapers, flux analyses, and reconciliations related to currency settlement and multi-currency balances.

Business Process Optimization (~50%)

• Document the client’s current-state accounting processes, which today are largely undocumented and manual, and create clear, repeatable standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Conduct requirements gathering through stakeholder interviews and workshops to understand pain points, hand-offs, and control gaps across the accounting function.
• Design and implement optimized, future-state processes that improve efficiency, accuracy, controls, and scalability.
• Establish and strengthen the internal control environment (SOX) by building controls, documentation, and review points into newly designed processes.
• Develop process maps, training materials, and knowledge-transfer documentation to ensure client teams can sustain improvements after project completion.
• Partner with client leadership to prioritize a roadmap of process and automation initiatives and measure the impact of implemented improvements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 6+ years of progressive accounting experience; public accounting (Big 4 / national firm) or consulting experience strongly preferred.
• Hands-on experience with foreign currency accounting and multi-currency environments, including currency remeasurement and translation (ASC 830).
• Experience with intercompany accounting, settlement, and reconciliation of cross-border balances.
• Demonstrated experience documenting accounting processes and creating SOPs, process maps, or similar procedural documentation.
• Proven ability to gather requirements, identify process gaps, and design and implement process improvements.
• Experience with month-end close and financial statement preparation.
• Proficiency with ERP and close/consolidation tools (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, HFM, OneStream, BlackLine) and advanced Excel skills.
• Strong communication and stakeholder collaboration skills, with the ability to integrate quickly into client teams and environments.

Preferred Qualifications

• Active CPA license (or international equivalent).
• Experience at a public, multinational company with multi-currency operations and cross-border settlement.
• Familiarity with Treasury operations, FX hedging, and settlement systems.
• Familiarity with SOX controls and experience designing controls into new or redesigned processes.
• Experience with reconciliation/automation tools such as BlackLine, and with workflow or process-automation platforms.
• Proficiency with AI tools, with demonstrated experience implementing automation solutions and intelligent workflows for accounting functions.
• Lean, Six Sigma, or other process-improvement training or certification.

Pay Range

$130,000 – $145,000 annually (depending on experience)
