Church Accountant (Part Time, 25 hours/week)

Church Accountant Job Description

The Accountant assists the Director of Administration & Generosity in administering the accounting, payroll, financial reporting, and contribution recording areas.

This is a part time non-exempt position with a weekly hourly commitment of 25 hours per week.

Church Accountant Primary Responsibilities

1. Oversee the Contributions Administration process. This involves

• Oversee the weekly counting of gifts & offerings
• Posting all gifts to accounting and donor records systems
• Preparing giving statements
• Acknowledging stock gifts, memorial gifts, and other significant contributions that warrant special recognition.

2. Perform all Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions for the church, including:

• Posting invoices and payments to appropriate accounts
• Ensuring appropriate documentation and approval is provided to support payments
• Generating checks and coordinating with Check Signing team.

3. Support the annual Generosity campaign by

• Assist with mailings to the congregation
• Recording annual Estimate of Giving responses

4. Process semimonthly payroll for all ministry staff and Ingomar Child Enrichment Center (ICEC) staff.

5. Assist with the annual audit by gathering information and reports for the auditors.

6. Complete any other duties as assigned consistent with the purpose of the position.

Church Accountant Qualifications

• Must share and support the Christian Values of Ingomar United Methodist Church
• Must be compliant with all applicable state and federal clearances
• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or human resources
• Extremely high level of integrity and honesty in dealing with funds is required
• Extremely high level of integrity in dealing with personal and confidential information is required
• Knowledge of accounting (QuickBooks preferred), donor management, and payroll (ADP preferred) software systems.
• Must possess an in-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office tools including Word and Excel

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $21.00 - $24.00 per hour
