Position Details - Brief Summary

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Follow and comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) for accounting and financial statement preparation
• Main point of contact for assigned clients
• Oversee and ensure accuracy of bookkeeping of assigned clients
• Review and provide guidance on bookkeeping work prepared by support staff to ensure accuracy and timely completion of client deliverables
• Perform and prioritize multiple month-end closings, year-end closings, and ongoing accounting responsibilities at once
• Creation & management of accrual schedules
• Prepare monthly financial statement packets
• Assist clients with annual budget preparation, forecasts & cash projections
• Responsible for audit preparation and oversight of audit fieldwork
• Assist clients with grant budget preparation and grant reporting
• Troubleshoot client issues, concerns, and questions, as needed
• Responsible for preparing and collecting documentation for Form 990 preparation
• Advise clients on accounting procedures, financial management, and development of polices, as needed
• Maintain electronic vendor, customer/donor, and other financial records in cloud storage solutions
• Attend regular staff meetings (remote) and retreats (onsite, up to twice/year)
• Conduct regular client meetings; presenting financial information as needed
• Attend Finance Committee or Board Meetings, as needed
• Participate in continuing education and training to develop new skills and keep abreast of changing accounting.
• Cooperate with Operations Manager and COO by performing any other duties

Supervisory

Required Education/Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related
• At least 3 years of auditing or accounting experience
• Thorough understanding of nonprofit GAAP
• Experience working with general ledger, reconciling balance sheet accounts
• Proficient in QuickBooks Online
• Excellent communication and client service skills
• Has the skills and ability to work successfully from home, during firm hours
• Has a dedicated professional workspace, free from distractions
• Ability to work independently
• Ability to take and apply direction and problem solve on their own
• Works well with a team and is flexible to meet the needs of the firm
• Can manage multiple projects at once
• Equipment requirements: high-speed internet access; smart phone device
• Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Outlook, Excel, Word, SharePoint (or OneDrive), and Microsoft Teams.

The Ideal Candidate

• At least 3 years of nonprofit accounting experience
• CPA license is a plus
• QuickBooks Pro Advisor with updated certification
• High level of proficiency in Excel with ability to build reports, schedules, data mining queries, pivot tables, and manipulate data with ease

Compensation & Benefits

• Full-Time position
• Compensation: $70,000-$80,000 annually
