Senior Accountant

About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented Senior Accountant to manage the day-to-day operations of the accounting function and safeguard the accuracy and integrity of our financial records.

Reporting into the finance leadership, you will own the full accounting cycle — from general ledger and reconciliations through month-end close, reporting, and compliance — while supporting budgeting, analysis, and strategic decision-making in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Accounting & Reporting

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in line with IFRS and company policy.
• Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and correct classification of all financial records.
• Review trial balances, investigate discrepancies, and analyse income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
• Prepare management reports and financial summaries, highlighting significant variances.

General Ledger & Closing

• Maintain the general ledger; review and approve journal entries with proper documentation and authorisation.
• Reconcile GL accounts monthly and resolve unusual transactions.
• Lead month-end and year-end closing, including accruals, prepayments, and provisions.
• Analyse results, explain variances, and support statutory reporting.

Reconciliations

• Perform bank, balance sheet, vendor, and customer reconciliations and resolve reconciling items.
• Monitor cash balances, AP aging, and AR balances, following up on outstanding items.

Budgeting, Forecasting & Analysis

• Support annual budget preparation, rolling forecasts, and cash flow projections.
• Analyse budget variances, profitability, and costs; recommend corrective actions.
• Develop KPIs and provide financial insight to support decision-making.

Compliance, Tax & Audit

• Prepare and review VAT returns and ensure compliance with UAE tax regulations.
• Coordinate external and internal audits — preparing schedules, supporting documents, and resolving findings.
• Strengthen internal controls, ensure segregation of duties, and support governance initiatives.

Fixed Assets, Treasury & Systems

• Maintain the fixed asset register, record acquisitions/disposals, and calculate depreciation.
• Monitor daily cash positions, working capital, and banking relationships.
• Operate ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar) and safeguard data integrity.
