Project Accountant

Our team is expanding! ASA Properties is headquartered in pristine New Braunfels, Texas and is the real estate developer of the 2,400-acre master planned community called Veramendi. We are committed to responsible and sustainable growth that enriches the authentic New Braunfels experience. Our select team is tasked with delivering each facet of Veramendi, from land development and construction management to property management and commercial sales.

We are currently seeking a Project Accountant with experience in property management or property development to manage project budgets, job cost systems, and financials for a range of projects and corporate entities.

Duties and Responsibilities

• The Project Accountant will:
• Interpret and apply established accounting policies and procedures to all work to ensure compliance with applicable standards.
• Update and Manage Job Costing System
• Lead and support data entry and historical record keeping efforts in a team environment.
• Preparing accrual entries and associated journals regularly.
• Track and manage property Taxes for the community
• Update and manage the chart of accounts for the corporate entities
• Work with lending partners to complete and draw loans
• Prepare and reconcile budgets for multiple projects
• Complete balance sheet, and selected P&L account reconciliation
• Prepare supporting schedules for internal financial reporting
• Analyze account activity and assist with variance explanations
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow tracking with accurate data
• Build and maintain Excel-based reconciliations and analytical schedules
• Complete NNN reconciliations for tenant expenses and suggest increases when applicable

• Qualifications
• Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related degree or equivalent experience.
• Three to Five years of real estate development experience preferred.
• Experience with job cost codes and job costing systems is preferred.
• Permanently located in the greater San Antonio-New Braunfels area.
• Working GAAP knowledge preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in QuickBooks Online, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel, Teams, and Adobe Acrobat Pro.
• Experience with enterprise accounting platforms such as MRI or Yardi preferred.
• Strong physical and digital organization skills.
• Experience with cloud-based file shares such as Drop
• Box preferred.
• Strong communication, organizational, and time management skills with the ability to achieve deadlines are central to the success of the position.

Physical Requirements

• This is primarily a sedentary office position with requires the Property Accountant to have the ability to operate computer equipment, speak, hear, bend, stoop, reach, lift, and move and carry up to 25 lbs.
• Finger dexterity necessary.
• The Property Accountant may occasionally be required to perform their duties on-site which may present certain occupational safety hazards and therefore must use their best efforts to comply with OSHA standards.
