Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior IT Project Manager to lead large-scale, enterprise technology initiatives within a complex government environment.

This role is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating all phases of complex IT projects while ensuring successful delivery through effective management of scope, schedule, budget, resources, risk, and stakeholder communications.

The ideal candidate has extensive experience leading enterprise technology projects, managing cross-functional teams, and driving projects from initiation through successful completion using both traditional and Agile project management methodologies.

Key Responsibilities

Enterprise Project Leadership

• Lead the planning, execution, monitoring, and successful delivery of complex enterprise IT projects
• Develop comprehensive project plans including scope, schedule, budget, resource allocation, communications, and risk management
• Define project objectives, deliverables, milestones, and success criteria with business and technical stakeholders
• Ensure projects remain aligned with organizational goals and governance standards

Stakeholder & Team Management

• Coordinate cross-functional teams including business units, technical staff, vendors, and executive stakeholders
• Facilitate project meetings, status updates, steering committees, and executive presentations
• Build strong relationships across multiple departments while ensuring stakeholder alignment throughout the project lifecycle
• Manage vendor performance and third-party deliverables

Project Controls

• Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and resource plans
• Monitor project performance against established milestones
• Track project metrics and provide regular executive-level reporting
• Identify project risks, dependencies, and issues while implementing mitigation strategies
• Manage project scope through formal change control processes

Governance & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with organizational governance standards, procurement requirements, and project management methodologies
• Maintain project documentation throughout the project lifecycle
• Support audits, project reviews, and reporting requirements
• Lead project closeout activities, including lessons learned and deliverable acceptance

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience managing large-scale enterprise IT or business transformation projects
• 8+ years of experience utilizing project management methodologies including PMI/PMBOK, Agile, or Hybrid approaches
• 8+ years of experience developing and managing project schedules, budgets, and resource plans
• 8+ years of experience managing cross-functional business and technical stakeholders
• 8+ years of experience with:
• Risk Management
• Issue Management
• Change Control
• Executive Reporting
• 8+ years of experience using project management tools such as:
• Microsoft Project
• Smartsheet
• Jira
• Similar enterprise project management tools
• Strong leadership, communication, facilitation, and organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications

• PMP (Project Management Professional) Certification
• Experience working within public sector or state government organizations
• Experience supporting enterprise procurement or contract management initiatives
• Experience leading enterprise application implementations or modernization projects
• Experience working under state procurement frameworks (DIR, FAST, or similar)

Work Environment

• Hybrid work schedule
• Up to 4 days per week onsite in Austin, TX
• Standard business hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
• Occasional evening or weekend work may be required based on project needs
• 12-month contract with strong potential for extension

Additional Requirements

• Candidates must currently reside in Texas or be willing to relocate prior to starting.
• Candidates must be able to work onsite in Austin up to four days per week.
• Successful candidates must pass all required background investigations before beginning employment.
• Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
