Data and Business Analyst

We are seeking a results-driven Data Analyst and Business Analyst (8+ years) (on-site at our Austin, Texas client) with deep experience analyzing raw/complex data, translating insights into business decisions, and leading requirements gathering efforts that connect business stakeholders with technology teams.

Proven ability to assess legacy systems, identify inefficiencies, and convert business needs into actionable functional requirements that enable vendors and delivery teams to implement the right solutions. Experienced in business process mapping/reengineering, BRD/FRD development, scope management, and UAT/test case creation to ensure delivered solutions meet original requirements.

Strong understanding of technology, SDLC, and delivery lifecycle; project management experience (PMP knowledge/experience is a strong plus) including risk, timeline, and cost considerations.

Business & Systems Analysis

• Reviews, analyzes, and evaluates business systems and user needs to align solutions with overall business strategies.
• Conducts legacy system assessments, identifies gaps/inefficiencies, and recommends improvements through technology enablement.
• Develops solution options with supporting risk identification and financial analysis (cost/benefit, ROI, buy vs. build).

Requirements Elicitation & Documentation

• Leads stakeholder discovery through interviews, workshops, surveys, and working sessions.
• Produces structured documentation including BRDs, FRDs, user stories/use cases, workflow diagrams, and clear acceptance criteria.
• Writes detailed descriptions of user needs, program functions, and implementation steps required to modify or build systems.

Process Mapping & Reengineering

• Builds current-state vs. future-state process maps, data flows, and use cases to support process modernization and reengineering.
• Applies industry-standard process mapping techniques to improve efficiency, control, and user experience.

Scope, Communication, and Delivery Support

• Acts as the critical bridge between business stakeholders and technology teams, ensuring shared understanding and traceability from requirements to delivery.
• Supports scope management by facilitating trade-offs and managing expectations for timelines/costs and delivery constraints.
• Serves as the central communication point across users, technical teams, leadership, and vendor partners-especially crucial once a vendor is selected.

Testing & UAT

• Partners with program/project teams to plan and execute UAT, including creating test cases, traceability matrices, and defect triage.
• Validates that delivered functionality aligns with documented requirements and program goals.

Requirements

• 8+ years: Analyzing legacy systems, identifying inefficiencies, and translating business needs into technical solutions aligned to program goals.
• 8+ years: Requirements documentation and UAT/testing support with program/project teams.
• 8+ years (Preferred): Translating abstract ideas into structured, traceable business requirements.
