Project Accounting Manager

The Project Accounting Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in the Austin, Texas.

This role is responsible for overseeing project-level accounting activities including, project budgeting, lender draw administration, invoice processing, contract administration and financial reporting while partnering closely with accounting, contractors, lenders, and stakeholders to ensure projects remain financially accurate, compliant, and on track.

Key Responsibilities

Project Budget Management

• Assist in developing and maintaining project budgets throughout the project lifecycle.
• Monitor budgets, commitments, expenditures and contingencies.
• Analyze budget variances and identify potential cost overruns.
• Prepare budget revisions, forecasts, and monitor cash flow.

Construction Accounting

• Review contractor, consultant, and vendor invoices for accuracy and contract compliance.
• Verify proper coding and allocation of construction costs.
• Coordinate invoice approvals and payment processing.
• Maintain project cost reports, commitment schedules, and reconciliations.
• Support month-end accruals and financial reporting.

Draw Administration

• Coordinate monthly lender draw requests for construction financing.
• Compile required documentation, including invoices, lien waivers, etc.
• Track funding requests and monitor receipt of loan proceeds.
• Maintain organized draw files and ensure compliance with lender requirements.

Financial Reporting

• Prepare monthly project financial reports and dashboards.
• Product budget-to-actual analyses and variance reports.
• Support project forecasting.

Project Coordination

• Serve as a financial liaison between accounting, contractors and other stakeholders.
• Participate in project meetings and provide financial and budget updates.
• Assist with project closeout documentation and final cost reconciliations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Experience in construction accounting or project accounting.
• Strong understanding of project budgets and job costing.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
• Excellent analytical, organization, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a collaborative environment.
