Sr. Grant Accountant (Contract-to-hire) - REMOTE

Our client is seeking a proactive Senior Grants Accountant to join their finance team. You will oversee federal grant accounting, compliance, budgeting, financial reporting, and month-end close while supporting complex funding programs and process improvements. This is a high-impact role offering meaningful work, long-term stability, and the potential for permanent hire.

• Key Responsibilities:*
• Manage federal grant accounting, budgeting, and financial reporting.
• Prepare journal entries, reconciliations, and support month-end close.
• Ensure compliance with Uniform Guidance, SEFA, NICRA, and grant requirements.
• Monitor grant budgets, cost allocations, and revenue recognition (ASC 606).
• Prepare financial reports and support Single Audit requests.
• Review grant agreements and ensure compliance with funding requirements.
• Identify process improvements and strengthen accounting procedures.
• Support additional accounting and grant-related projects as needed.

Must Have

• 5+ yrs of experience managing federal and large philanthropic grants
• Variance revenue recognition under ASC 606 guidelines
• Grant cost accounting principles
• Experience with cost allocation modules and NICRA
• Experience putting together SEFA (Schedule of Federal Awards Schedule)
• Experience working as an Accountant (preparing financials, reading grant contracts, etc.)
• Experience with Compliance Audit (A-133)

Work Schedule: Hybrid (2 days in-office) preferred; Remote candidates must work East Coast hours (approx. 9 AM - 5:30 PM EST)

Compensation

$28-$45/hr. DOE + Potential for Full-Time Conversion
