Senior Real Estate Accountant

Role Description The Senior Real Estate Accountant is a full-time, on-site role based in Atlanta, GA. This role is responsible for managing day-to-day accounting activities for real estate and construction clients, including general ledger maintenance, accounts payable and receivable processing, bank and account reconciliations, and month-end and year-end closings.

The Senior Real Estate Accountant prepares and reviews financial statements, supports budgeting and forecasting, and ensures compliance with relevant accounting standards and tax regulations. The role collaborates with internal team members and client stakeholders to analyze financial performance, address accounting issues, and recommend process improvements.

This position also provides mentorship to junior accounting staff and contributes to the refinement of best practices within the firm.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience in real estate or construction accounting, including general ledger management, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
• Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks or similar platforms) and strong skills in Microsoft Excel and other office productivity tools.
• Solid understanding of GAAP, real estate-related accounting principles, and basic tax compliance for property and construction entities.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple clients, deadlines, and priorities.
• Clear and professional communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with clients and internal team members.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or progress toward certification is a plus.
• Experience in a public accounting, outsourced accounting, or multi-client environment is highly beneficial.
