• What You'll Own
• You are responsible for the reliability, scalability, and operational excellence of our systems.
• We are cloud-first on AWS with legacy systems still to modernize, and you will have real authority, in partnership with engineering leadership, to design, build, and evolve:CI/CD and automated testing pipelines that let the team ship fast without adding risk
• Reproducible infrastructure as code, replacing manually configured, click-ops setups
• Migration of legacy systems into stable, observable, cloud-native AWS architectures
• Monitoring, alerting, and incident response, including a shared on-call rotation
• Reliability standards that engineers trust and follow
• We are early in adopting formal on-call and incident practices, and you will help shape them: blameless reviews, sustainable rotations, and recovery time after after-hours work.

How You'll GrowThis role grows in technical scope, architectural ownership, and organizational influence. Near term you are deeply hands-on in CI/CD, testing, and AWS infrastructure. Over time you shape reliability and cloud practices across teams and influence longer-term architecture.

In your first 90 days, success looks like shipping real improvements to CI/CD or testing, strengthening incident response, and becoming a trusted voice in reliability decisions.

• It is likely not for you if you want narrowly scoped, ticket-driven work, or a fully mature SRE organization with everything already defined.

• That matters more than any single tool on your CV. The essentials:A genuine foundation in infrastructure and reliability.
• You have run production systems and understand what keeps them healthy, secure, and recoverable.
• Comfort automating your own work with code or scripting.
• Calm, clear communication, with strong ownership and follow-through.

The Practical DetailsLocation: Open to candidates based in New Zealand. Remote today; when we open an Auckland office this becomes a hybrid role, around three days a week in the office (details still being finalized).

Hours: Our engineering team is in India and our headquarters are in Dallas, Texas. The systems you support run on US time, so some unconventional hours are occasionally needed to connect with partners in India and the US.

Compensation

NZD 130,000–160,000.

Level: L4, Senior Individual Contributor, reporting to engineering leadership.

Measured on: reliability, delivery safety, cloud maturity, and technical influence.
