Role Description The Senior Tax Accountant role is a full-time hybrid position based in New Hyde Park, NY, with flexibility for some work from home. This role includes preparing and reviewing individual, corporate, partnership, and fiduciary tax returns, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations.

The Senior Tax Accountant will research tax issues, identify planning opportunities, and provide recommendations to optimize client tax positions. Daily responsibilities include analyzing financial statements, reconciling accounts, and maintaining accurate work papers to support tax filings.

The role also involves communicating with clients, responding to tax notices, assisting with IRS and state inquiries, mentoring junior staff, and contributing to the improvement of internal processes and procedures.

Qualifications

• Strong tax-focused skills, including Tax, Tax Preparation, and Tax Compliance.
• Proficiency in Accounting and preparation and analysis of Financial Statements.
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license or active candidacy is strongly preferred.
• Several years of progressive public accounting or tax experience in a similar role.
• Advanced knowledge of federal and state tax laws, regulations, and reporting requirements.
• High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex tax matters clearly.
• Ability to manage multiple engagements, meet deadlines, and work collaboratively in a hybrid environment.
• Experience with tax preparation software and accounting systems; strong Excel skills are beneficial.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; a master’s in Taxation is a plus.
