Accounting Coordinator (Accounts Receivable & Payroll)

Slevin & Hart, P.C. is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accounting Coordinator to join our administrative team. This position supports the firm's accounts receivable, payroll, billing, and accounting functions and plays an important role in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of our financial operations.

The ideal candidate is dependable, analytical, and able to manage multiple responsibilities while maintaining a high degree of accuracy and confidentiality.

Salary Range

$60,000 - $75,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.

Experience

2-5 years of experience in accounting, accounts receivable, payroll, billing, bookkeeping, or a related role preferred.

Experience in a law firm, accounting firm, consulting firm, or other professional office environment is a plus, but not required.

Primary Responsibilities

• Process and record ACH, wire, and check payments received from clients.
• Maintain accounts receivable records and support collection efforts.
• Prepare monthly accounts receivable aging reports and related reporting.
• Coordinate the processing and distribution of insurance settlement checks.
• Support the firm's monthly billing cycle, including prebill review and editing.
• Process biweekly payroll for employees and monthly payroll for principals.
• Maintain payroll records and prepare payroll-related reports.
• Assist with audit requests, Schedule C reporting, and other accounting projects.
• Respond to attorney, client, and staff inquiries regarding payments, billing, and account activity.
• Handle sensitive payroll, employee, client, and firm information with discretion and confidentiality.
• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

• Associate's or bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field preferred.
• Strong Excel, organizational, and analytical skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism.

Work Schedule and Environment

• Full-time, 37.5-hour workweek.
• Non-Exempt position.
• This position is based in our Washington, DC office.
• Slevin & Hart offers a hybrid work environment. Employees who successfully complete their introductory period may be eligible for a hybrid schedule. Hybrid work arrangements are based on business needs, job performance, and departmental requirements and may be modified at the Firm's discretion.
