Sr Accountant Revenue & Capital Projects

General Description

Reporting to the Director of Accounting, responsible for financial reporting support and for recording fixed assets into sub-ledger and maintaining CIP project records for reimbursements. This position will provide a high level of customer service to all employees and vendors and customers. Manage integration between systems, ensuring all data flow exceptions are addressed timely.

Ensure that all financial transactions are recorded accurately and in accordance with GAAP and assisting with audits and providing necessary documentation.

• Reconcile accounts between systems (Salesforce to Netsuite). Ensure restricted revenue is recorded properly.
• Ensure all donor restrictions are recorded properly, and to review purchases in order to release restrictions.
• Pledge Accounts Receivable ensure recording is accurate and related payments are posted properly.
• Ensure accounting between 401k provider, health savings account provider ties to ADP withholdings.
• Review purchases and follow process to convert to fixed asset and post to subsidiary ledger. This includes construction in progress and payments of progress billings AIA including supporting documentation.
• Back up for the staff accountant includes journal entries and preparation of monthly financial packet in excel.
• Specific month-end closing journal entries and update month end check list in coordination with Accountant and bank reconciliations.
• Account analysis and propose reconciling journal entries.
• Grant reporting and tracking. Ensure all segments are accurate for revenue and expenditures. Prepare financial reports for Development including budgets and related spending.
• Special Projects-including but not limited to review of fixed asset ledger to reconcile to physical assets. Lead the process to escheat uncashed checks. Critical for financial reporting and operational planning
• Bank deposits within 3 business days of receipt. Ensure matches the batch totals from Fund Development-coordination with Accountant.
• Monitor A/R and lead collection efforts
• Prepare credit applications and support of tax-exempt requests
• Support annual audits and 990 compilation
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, CPA preferred
• Minimum of 5 years accounting experience, Not-For-Profit experience a plus.
• Prior experience with NetSuite, Ticketure a plus
• Excellent attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.

Working Conditions, Physical, Medical & Additional Requirements

Must successfully complete drug test ad tuberculosis test prior to assuming position; may require combination of sitting, standing, walking throughout the Zoo, successful completion of a post-offer criminal and child abuse clearances, credit record check prior to assuming position, must be able to utilize the following equipment, e.g., computer, telephone, copier and printer.
