Job Title: Business Analyst – Microsoft Fabric Data Migration

Location: Seattle, WA 98101

Duration: 4 weeks

Pay rate: $75/hr. - $81/hr. On W2

About the Opportunity

Our client is seeking an experienced Business Analyst (BA) to support a data modernization initiative involving the migration of dashboards and data models from a legacy data infrastructure to data hosted within a Microsoft Fabric Data Lake environment.

The consultant will work closely with business and technical stakeholders to facilitate a smooth transition while ensuring data integrity, reporting continuity, and business alignment.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze existing dashboards, reports, and data models within the current data environment.
• Gather and document business and technical requirements for migration activities.
• Partner with data engineers, architects, and business stakeholders to support migration planning and execution.
• Assess dependencies, data sources, transformation requirements, and reporting impacts.
• Validate migrated data, dashboards, and reporting outputs to ensure accuracy and consistency.
• Identify and document risks, issues, assumptions, and mitigation plans.
• Facilitate stakeholder meetings and provide project status updates.
• Support user acceptance testing (UAT) and business sign-off activities.
• Create process documentation, data mapping artifacts, and migration-related deliverables.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst supporting data and analytics initiatives.
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric, Fabric Data Lake, or modern cloud-based data platforms.
• Demonstrated experience supporting the migration of dashboards, reports, and data models from legacy environments.
• Strong understanding of data warehousing, data lakes, data modeling, and reporting architectures.
• Experience gathering requirements and translating business needs into functional specifications.
• Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and documentation skills.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced consulting environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience leading or supporting large-scale data migration projects.
• Experience with Power BI, Azure Data Services, or modern analytics platforms.
• Understanding of ETL/ELT processes and data integration methodologies.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Experience working with enterprise-scale datasets and reporting environments.
