Accounting Manager

We are seeking a highly organized, analytical, and detail-oriented Accounting Manager to oversee the day-to-day accounting operations of Pittsburgh Spirits. This hands-on leadership role is responsible for the monthly close, financial reporting, general ledger, inventory and cost accounting, cash management, internal controls, and audit support.

The Accounting Manager partners closely with production, operations, purchasing, and sales to provide timely financial insight, strengthen processes, improve inventory accuracy and manufacturing performance, and support sound business decisions as the company continues to grow.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily accounting operations, including the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, and inventory accounting.
• Lead month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely, accurate, and well-supported financial reporting.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP.Own inventory valuation and reconciliation for raw materials, work-in-process, finished goods, and packaging materials.
• Oversee cycle counts and physical inventory processes and investigate inventory discrepancies.
• Analyze standard costs, manufacturing costs, production variances, yields, and inventory movements to identify operational and margin improvement opportunities.
• Reconcile bank accounts, balance sheet accounts, and inventory records and resolve discrepancies promptly.
• Develop and maintain effective internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures to safeguard company assets and improve financial accuracy.
• Coordinate annual audits and support external auditors by preparing schedules, documentation, and responses.
• Ensure timely compliance with applicable tax, excise tax, regulatory, and statutory reporting requirements.
• Manage the daily cash position, prepare cash flow forecasts, monitor working capital, and recommend improvements.
• Support annual budgeting, forecasting, and longer-term financial planning activities.
• Prepare clear financial reports, operating metrics, and analysis for management decision-making.
• Partner with production, procurement, logistics, sales, and other leaders to improve cost management and business performance.
• Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff while establishing clear expectations and accountability.
• Recommend and implement process improvements, ERP optimization, accounting system enhancements, and automation opportunities.
• Perform other duties and provide accounting and financial support to affiliated companies and special projects, as assigned.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

Five or more years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in manufacturing, consumer packaged goods, food and beverage, or distribution.

At least two years of supervisory or management experience.

Required

Demonstrated experience with inventory accounting, manufacturing cost accounting, and month-end close.

Proficiency with ERP systems, preferably Microsoft Dynamics or a comparable platform, and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Ability to work effectively across functions and translate financial information into practical business insight.

Desired: CPA, CMA, or equivalent professional certification.

Experience in beverage manufacturing, brewing, bottling, food manufacturing, consumer packaged goods, or distribution.

Experience with standard costing, production costing, inventory controls, and physical inventory processes.

Knowledge of excise tax, beverage industry regulations, and supply chain accounting.

Experience implementing or optimizing ERP systems and accounting processes.
