Position Overview
The Senior Manager, Internal Audit is responsible for establishing, leading, and continuously enhancing the Company's Internal Audit function. The role provides independent and objective assurance to the CEO and Audit Committee regarding the effectiveness of governance, risk management, internal controls, and compliance processes.
The incumbent will develop and execute a risk-based audit plan, assess the adequacy of internal controls across all business functions, identify opportunities for operational improvement, and support the Company in maintaining the highest standards of corporate governance, accountability, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Internal Audit Strategy & Planning
- Develop and implement the Company's Internal Audit Charter, methodology, policies, and procedures.
- Prepare and maintain a risk-based annual audit plan for review and approval by management and the Audit Committee.
- Conduct enterprise-wide risk assessments to identify key business, operational, financial, compliance, and strategic risks.
- Ensure audit priorities are aligned with the Company's strategic objectives and risk profile.
Audit Execution & Assurance
- Lead and oversee the execution of financial, operational, compliance, IT, and special audits across the organization.
- Evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of internal controls, governance processes, and risk management practices.
- Review business processes to identify control deficiencies, operational inefficiencies, and improvement opportunities.
- Ensure audit engagements are completed in accordance with International Professional Practices Framework (IPPF) and IIA Standards.
- Validate the implementation and effectiveness of corrective actions arising from audit findings.
Governance, Risk & Compliance
- Assess the effectiveness of corporate governance structures and decision-making processes.
- Evaluate compliance with applicable laws, regulations, Board directives, internal policies, and delegated authorities.
- Monitor emerging risks and recommend mitigation strategies to management.
- Support management in strengthening the Company's internal control environment and risk culture.
Reporting & Stakeholder Management
- Present audit plans, audit reports, key findings, and risk insights to the CEO and Audit Committee.
- Escalate significant control weaknesses, fraud indicators, or compliance concerns on a timely basis.
- Build effective working relationships with business leaders while maintaining audit independence and objectivity.
- Provide advisory services on process improvements, control design, and governance matters without compromising audit independence.
Fraud Risk Management
- Support the development and enhancement of fraud risk management frameworks and controls.
- Lead or coordinate investigations into suspected fraud, misconduct, or policy violations as directed by management or the Audit Committee.
- Recommend corrective and preventive measures to mitigate fraud risks.
Continuous Improvement
- Continuously improve audit methodologies, tools, reporting, and quality assurance processes.
- Leverage data analytics, automation, and technology-enabled auditing techniques to improve audit effectiveness.
- Benchmark internal audit practices against leading industry and professional standards.
- Stay abreast of regulatory developments, emerging risks, and industry best practices.
Leadership & Capability Building
- Lead, coach, and develop internal audit personnel and external audit resources where applicable.
- Manage departmental resources, budget, and priorities to ensure efficient delivery of audit objectives.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related discipline. Master's degree preferred.
- Professional certification such as CIA, CPA, ACCA, CISA, CRMA, or equivalent is highly preferred.
- Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in Internal Audit, External Audit, Risk Management, or Governance.
- Minimum 5 years of leadership experience within a large organization, listed company, manufacturing environment, or multinational organization.
- Experience presenting to Executive Management, Audit Committees, or Boards is highly preferred.
- Experience establishing or transforming Internal Audit functions is an advantage.
