Family and Household Assistant

A busy family on the mid-Peninsula is looking for an organized, dependable, and hands-on Family & Household Assistant.

The role includes managing family schedules, driving children, running errands, coordinating household workers and vendors, and helping with everyday household needs. The ideal candidate is proactive, trustworthy, flexible, and interested in a long-term position.

Responsibilities

• Manage the family calendar, appointments, school activities, sports, and other commitments.
• Register children for camps, sports, and extracurricular activities.
• Drive children to and from school, appointments, activities, and playdates.
• Run errands, including groceries, returns, dry cleaning, pharmacy pickups, and gift shopping.
• Help plan birthdays, holidays, family meals, and small events.
• Keep family spaces organized and tidy.
• Fold laundry and help organize clothing.
• Prepare simple meals, snacks, and school lunches when needed.
• Manage mail, packages, deliveries, and returns.
• Monitor and order household supplies.
• Coordinate gardeners, cleaners, pool technicians, contractors, repair professionals, and other household vendors.
• Schedule maintenance and repairs, obtain estimates, provide vendors with access, and follow up to make sure work is completed properly.
• Keep track of household maintenance, recurring services, and ongoing projects.
• Assist with personal projects, research, reservations, and other family needs.

Qualifications

• At least four years of experience as a family assistant, household assistant, personal assistant, nanny/family assistant, or in a similar role.
• Experience working with families and school-aged children is preferred.
• Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
• Comfortable managing several responsibilities and adjusting quickly when plans change.
• Warm, polished, professional, and able to work respectfully with family members, household staff, vendors, and guests.
• Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and reliable transportation.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States.
• Comfortable working in a home with children and pets.

Position Details

• Live-out position
• Location: Mid-Peninsula, California
• Open to either: Full-time: approximately 35–40 hours per week, or Part-time: approximately 20–25 hours per week, primarily weekday afternoons
• Exact schedule can be discussed based on the candidate’s availability and the family’s needs.
• Compensation: Competitive hourly rate based on experience and schedule
