• Provides direct patient care for patients that require specialty services and nursing care.
• Assumes responsibility and accountability for the delivery of patient care delegation and coordination of nursing care and utilization of the nursing process as part of an interdisciplinary team.
• Provides patient and family education.
• Communicates and collaborates effectively with patients and as a member of an interdisciplinary health care team.
• Performs work with integrity and in compliance with professional nursing practice standards policies and procedures, respecting patients' privacy and confidentiality.

REQUIREMENTS TO QUALIFY

One (1) year experience within the last five years as a registered nurse providing acute direct patient care in a hospital.

-AND-

A current, active license to practice as a Registered Nurse issued by the California Board of Registered Nursing. *

-AND-

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers (CPR and AED) Program certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA).*

-AND-

A valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions.

NOTE: Applicants claiming experience in a state other than California have to provide their Registered Nurse license number from that state on the application at the time of filing. Out-of-State experience provided on the application without the required license number will not be considered.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

Additional credit will be awarded to applicants whose experience exceeds the requirements.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS INFORMATION

• Ensure the Certificates and Licenses Section of the application is completed. Provide the title(s) of your required certification(s) and/or license(s), the number(s), date(s) of issue, date(s) of expiration, and the name(s) of the issuing agency for the required certification(s) and license(s) specified above. Required license(s) and certificate(s) has to be active and unrestricted, or your application will not be accepted.

PHYSICAL CLASS III (MODERATE)

This class requires that the incumbent stand or walk most of the time, with bending, stooping, squatting, twisting, reaching, working on irregular surfaces, occasional lifting of objects weighing over 25 pounds, and frequent lifting of 10-25 pounds.

EXAMINATION CONTENT

This examination will consist of an evaluation of training and experience based up on the application information, desirable qualifications, and supplemental questionnaire, weighted 100%.

Applicants must achieve a passing score of 70% or higher on the examination in order to be included on the eligible list.

ELIGIBILITY AND VACANCY INFORMATION

We process applications as we receive them. If you pass the assessment, we will place you on a list for 12 months. Hiring managers within DHS will use this list to fill vacancies as they become available.

Applicants who are successful in this examination and are added to the eligible register may not apply for this examination for twelve (12) months following the date of being placed on the eligible register. Applications received before expiration from the eligible register will be rejected.

Applicants who applied and did not meet the Requirements when submitting their application may reapply 30 days after their most recent application date.

AVAILABLE SHIFTS

You may be required to work evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays, depending on operational needs.
