Math/Homeroom Teacher

Saint Paul the Apostle School, a Developmental Kindergarten through 8th grade Catholic Elementary and Middle School located near Westwood in Los Angeles, is accepting applications for a Middle School Math/Homeroom Teacher with experience teaching children in the Middle Grades for the 2026-27 school year.

Reports to: Assistant Principal – Director of the Middle School

Accountable to: Principal

Classification: Exempt

Required Hours: 7:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. (Monday-Friday), but must be able to work outside of school hours as needed and/or required.

Requirements

• BA or higher degree
• Clear Single Subject Teaching Credential in Mathematics or working toward a Clear Credential
• At least five years teaching middle or high school students preferred
• Active Catholic preferred
• For this position, strong consideration is given to candidates who possess expertise in mathematics curriculum development and mathematics instruction
• Effective communication skills
• Planning and organizational skills
• Experience teaching Grades 5-8 Mathematics as well as Algebra 1, Geometry, and possibly Algebra 2
• Curriculum development expertise, including how to use Common Core State Standards and the Standards for Mathematical Practice to design Learning Goals
• Strong classroom management skills
• Competency in developing lesson plans in alignment with Common Core, state standards, and technology
• Cultivate a Growth Mindset in self and students
• Willingness to assist with co-curricular programs and/or activities such as coaching, After School Enrichment experiences, among others
• Engagement in the life and community of our parish and school community
• Experience with using iPads, projectors, Zoom, Gradelink, Google Classroom, Renaissance Learning, and Microsoft Office, Google – Docs, Slides, Sheets, Forms, and other electronic communication
• First aid & CPR certification required
• Virtus “Protecting God’s Children” certification and a clear Livescan required

Wage Range

The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
