The Smoke Shop BBQ is New England's largest and fastest-growing BBQ restaurant group, with locations across Greater Boston and a reputation built on authentic barbecue, genuine hospitality, and developing great people.

We're looking for a Restaurant Manager to join our leadership team.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who loves being on the floor, coaching a team, and delivering exceptional hospitality—not sitting behind a desk. This position is an excellent opportunity for an experienced restaurant leader looking to continue growing into an Assistant General Manager role within a company that believes in promoting from within.

At The Smoke Shop, we believe memorable guest experiences start with great leadership. As Restaurant Manager, you'll help lead daily operations, coach the front-of-house team, maintain our hospitality standards, and ensure every guest leaves wanting to come back.

Core Responsibilities

• Lead shifts with confidence, energy, and a guest-first mindset.
• Coach and support front-of-house team members throughout every service.
• Create memorable guest experiences by leading with hospitality.
• Assist with hiring, onboarding, and training new employees.
• Reinforce The Smoke Shop's service standards and company culture.
• Ensure opening and closing procedures are completed accurately.
• Support dine-in, takeout, delivery, catering, patio dining, and private events.
• Handle guest concerns professionally and recover service opportunities when needed.
• Maintain restaurant cleanliness, organization, and sanitation standards.
• Monitor beverage inventory and restaurant supplies.
• Utilize the POS system to support efficient operations.
• Partner with the kitchen to ensure smooth communication and exceptional execution.
• Ensure responsible alcohol service and compliance with all company policies.
• Help build a positive, team-oriented work environment.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years of restaurant experience, including at least one year in a supervisory or management role.
• Experience working in a high-volume restaurant preferred.
• Passion for hospitality and guest service.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.
• Positive attitude and sense of urgency.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure.
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
• Desire to coach and develop others.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary: $50,000–$60,000 annually, plus bonus opportunities.

Physical Requirements

• Stand for up to 8 hours.
• Lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Frequently bend, kneel, and reach.
• Work safely in a fast-paced, high-volume restaurant environment.

Other Requirements

• Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English (Spanish is a plus).
• TIPS Certification.
• ServSafe Food Handler Certification (or ability to obtain).
• Ability to thrive in a team-oriented environment.
