St. Botolph Club - Line Cook

The St. Botolph Club, a private club in the heart of Boston’s Back Bay neighborhood, is seeking a talented cook to join our well-trained team of culinary professionals. The Line Cook would report to the Executive Chef and have the ability develop skills in a great learning environment.

To succeed in this job, a candidate must be able to effectively undertake the following day-to-day duties and responsibilities:

Setting up and stocking stations with all necessary supplies

Cooking menu items in cooperation with the rest of the kitchen staff

Answer, report and follow Executive Chef’s instructions

Using kitchen knives and equipment such as grills, ovens and warmers in food preparation

Preparing meals and food for service to meet the specification of members in a timely manner

Ensuring proper food temperatures when cooking and proper storage afterward

Keeping the workstation and kitchen equipment clean, organized and sanitized

The ideal candidate would have the following qualifications and experience requirements:

Exceptional cooking skills

Excellent understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment and procedures

Accuracy and speed in executive assigned tasks

Familiarity with the best practices in the food service industry

Knowledge of health and safety standards

Ability to multitask and work quickly under pressure

Attention to details and organizational skills

Proven ability to work as part of a team

Ability to work on your feet for most of the day and lift 30 pounds at a time

Completion of vocational school or a two-year associates degree

Proven cooking experience, including experience as a line cook, restaurant cook or prep cook
