Special Education Teacher - Washington, DC

Qualifications

• Valid state teaching certification in Special Education (or eligibility)
• Bachelors degree or higher in Special Education or related field
• Experience working with children who have a wide range of disabilities
• Strong classroom management and communication skills
• Ability to develop and adapt Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
• Proven ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, families, and support staff

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement personalized lesson plans and instructional strategies aligned with students IEP goals
• Provide direct instruction and support to students with mild to moderate disabilities
• Regularly assess student progress and adapt instruction as necessary
• Maintain accurate documentation of student performance, IEP data, and parent communications
• Work closely with general education teachers to promote an inclusive classroom environment
• Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to multidisciplinary team discussions
