Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
• Eligible for or holding a valid Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC) teaching certificate in:
• Middle Grades Mathematics (Grades 4–8), or
• Mathematics (Grades 6–12), or another appropriate mathematics certification.
• Demonstrated knowledge of Algebra I content and best instructional practices.
• Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience teaching Algebra I or advanced middle school mathematics.
• Experience preparing students for the Georgia Algebra I End-of-Course Assessment.
• Experience using instructional technology and digital learning platforms.
• Knowledge of Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) and differentiated instruction.
• Experience working with gifted learners and/or students receiving special education services.

DESCRIPTION

Genesis Innovation Academy is seeking a dynamic, student-centered Part-Time Algebra I Teacher to provide high-quality mathematics instruction for middle school students enrolled in Algebra I for high school credit. This position is ideal for an educator who believes that all students can achieve at high levels through rigorous instruction, strong relationships, and purposeful intervention.

The successful candidate will deliver engaging, standards-based instruction aligned to the Georgia Standards of Excellence (GSE) for Algebra I, prepare students for success on the Georgia Algebra I End-of-Course (EOC) Assessment, and foster mathematical thinking through problem solving, collaboration, and real-world application.

In Georgia, students who complete Algebra I in middle school earn high school credit and are required to take the Algebra I EOC assessment, which serves as the course final exam.

Specific Responsibilities

• Instruction
• Plan and deliver rigorous Algebra I instruction aligned to the Georgia Standards of Excellence.
• Develop lessons that promote conceptual understanding, procedural fluency, and mathematical reasoning.
• Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of advanced learners while providing appropriate scaffolds for struggling students.
• Utilize technology, manipulatives, and research-based instructional strategies to increase student engagement.
• Prepare students for successful performance on the Georgia Algebra I End-of-Course Assessment.
• Assessment & Data Analysis
• Administer formative and summative assessments.
• Analyze student performance data to inform instruction.
• Monitor individual student progress and provide targeted interventions.
• Maintain accurate records of grades, attendance, and student performance.
• Classroom Environment
• Create a safe, structured, and academically challenging classroom culture.
• Establish high expectations for student achievement and behavior.
• Promote perseverance, collaboration, and mathematical discourse.

• Participate in collaborative planning with instructional leaders and colleagues.
• Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress.
• Attend required faculty meetings, professional learning sessions, and parent conferences as scheduled.
