The Director – Financial Planning & Analysis provides strategic leadership for financial planning, forecasting, budgeting, and performance analytics across the Medical Group. This role is responsible for leading the annual operating and capital budget processes, monthly forecasting, long-range financial planning, and strategic financial analyses to support organizational growth and operational effectiveness.
The Director works with senior leadership, department administrators, and physicians by translating financial and operational data into actionable insights. This position leads efforts to identify financial risks and opportunities, evaluate strategic initiatives, and support performance improvement efforts across clinical and operational departments.
This role has responsibility for developing financial models, productivity analyses, reimbursement trend analyses, and scenario planning that support informed decision-making. The Director also oversees financial benchmarking and business intelligence reporting to strengthen accountability and financial stewardship.
The Director – Financial Planning & Analysis serves as a subject matter expert for strategic projects and enterprise initiatives, supporting leadership in evaluating business opportunities, operational changes, and investment decisions. This position reports to the Senior Director of Finance and works collaboratively with operational leaders, accounting, reimbursement, and decision support teams.
The Director requires significant healthcare finance experience, strong analytical capabilities, advanced financial modeling skills, and the ability to communicate complex financial concepts effectively to all levels of leadership.
Organizational Expectations
Practices within the Medical Center policies and procedures, including Health System and the Medical Group Compliance Program and Financial Compliance Plan. Adheres to the Intensive Caring Value statements as demonstrated through positive patient/guest relations, positive and effective interactions with staff, and formulating and meeting developmental goals.
Practices within the Financial Services Department policies and procedures.
Maintains appropriate relationships with internal and external personnel and organizations.
For Hire: Bachelors degree in Accounting or a related field with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience required. 15 years of relevant experience preferred. Prior experience with leading teams is required. Excellent computer skills including knowledge of Excel, Power Point, and Access. Workday financial experience preferred.
Must possess analytical and problem solving skills and demonstrate the ability to work independently and take initiative for process improvement. Must demonstrate ability to ensure quality in own work and develop strategies to assure accurate presentations.
The Director - Medical Group Financial Planning & Analysis must be able to handle multiple projects and manage to achieve deadlines. Must have highly developed project management skills and be able to manage and deliver multiple projects. Must demonstrate ability to ensure quality in own work and develop strategies to assure accurate presentations.
Must possess advanced healthcare analytical skills and be able to relate clinical, operational, reimbursement, and practice patterns to Health System operations. Actively initiates process improvement, reporting changes, and provides recommendations to Senior Director of Financial Reporting and others within organization.
Uses advanced presentation techniques to communicate complex financial information to non-finance personnel.
On-going: Shows demonstrable results to business unit’s bottom line. The analyst should focus on trends, understand the impact of academic mission, and be aware of the healthcare environment to have maximum impact on the operations of the business unit. Prepares complex parameter driven what-if models and uses advanced spreadsheets skills to handle large volumes of information.
Actively shares knowledge and techniques with peers and assists in business unit team activities.
