Job Summary
SUMMARY
This position provides both clinical and clerical assistance and support to the providers (nursing, physician, technicians) as well as managerial and administrative staff in their efforts to provide quality services and care to the patients of E.P.I.
REQUIRED EDUCATION/SKILLS
- Able to travel to all office locations (Newark, Gahanna).
- Excellent computer skills and experience with electronic medical records.
- Excellent grammar and communication skills.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to:
- Provide clinical support during absences and upon request from management.
- Retrieve and handle all voicemail messages left during non-business hours.
- Welcomes patients and all visitors to the office.
- Monitors and maintains the facilities reception area and its contents.
- Records time and date of appointment and/or testing and procedure in computer.
- Records in schedule when appointments have been filled or canceled and contacts patients who have missed appointments according to protocol.
- Receives payments for services and records them in computer.
- Obtains patient demographic information and patient’s signature on appropriate documents and records and/or scans in computer system.
- Answer and triage telephone and intercom calls and provides information or relays messages to patients, staff and physician.
- Contact and request interpretative services when necessary.
- Inventories and orders clerical and office equipment supplies and materials.
- Obtain authorizations and referrals for appropriate service and procedure.
- Daily recording and balance of credit card machine and payments.
- Monitor and secure office cash box.
- Perform all aspects of check-in and check-out front desk duties.
- Interviews patient to obtain past medical history, review of systems; measures vital signs; such as pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height, and record in patient’s Electronic Medical Record.
- Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients.
- Explain treatment procedures and testing to patients in the office and/or provide literature with regards to treatment procedures and testing to patients.
- Provide prescription renewals and refill information to patient and/or pharmacy in accordance with company policy. Instruct patients about medication and refill policies.
- Prepare patient and assist during stress testing.
- Apply ambulatory monitoring devices and instruction to patient.
- Prepare device interrogators and preps patient for provider.
- Perform Electrocardiogram (EKG), and assists with other routine diagnostic test as requested by provider.
- Perform routine laboratory tests (PT/INR) and educates patient when necessary with regards to precautions, usage and directives provided by physician and nursing staff.
- Schedule appointments, testing and procedures, accept and post co-payments, maintain medical records, performs secretarial tasks, copy and paste hospital records into EMR. Call and confirm and/or reschedule appointments as required.
- Keys data into computer to maintain patient records.
- Assist the physician(s), nurse(s) and other clinical staff in the appropriate delivery of patient care services.
- Enter pacemaker/ICD interrogation data into EMR.
