Northern Avenue Eye Care is an established, independently owned private optometry practice proudly serving the Phoenix community. We believe every patient deserves outstanding care from the moment they call our office until they leave with a smile.

We’re looking for a dependable, experienced team member who enjoys helping people and thrives in a fast-paced environment. This is an all-around support position for someone who enjoys variety and wants to play an important role in the success of a growing private practice.

No two days are exactly alike. You’ll work closely with the doctor, patients, optical team, and insurance companies to help ensure every patient has an exceptional experience.

Responsibilities

Front Office

• Welcome and check in patients
• Answer incoming telephone calls
• Schedule and confirm appointments
• Verify patient demographics and insurance information
• Collect copays, deductibles, and patient payments
• Check patients in and out efficiently
• Maintain a professional and organized reception area

Insurance & Administrative

• Verify vision and medical insurance eligibility
• Submit patient information to insurance providers
• Obtain authorizations when required
• Assist with insurance billing and claim follow-up
• Maintain accurate patient records
• Enter and update patient information using Compulink electronic medical records (EMR)

Clinical & Patient Support

• Prepare patients for the doctor
• Perform patient pretesting when needed
• Assist with patient flow throughout the day
• Educate patients on appointments, eyewear, and contact lens services
• Provide outstanding customer service before, during, and after each visit

Optical Support

• Assist patients with frame selection when needed
• Help educate patients about lens options and products
• Support the optical team during busy periods

Required Qualifications

• Minimum two years of experience in an optometry or ophthalmology office preferred
• Experience with Compulink is strongly preferred
• Experience verifying vision and medical insurance
• Experience submitting patient information to insurance providers
• Excellent customer service and communication skills
• Strong computer skills
• High school diploma or equivalent

Preferred Experience

• Patient pretesting
• Front desk and scheduling
• Insurance verification and billing
• Optical sales and frame styling
• Contact lens ordering
• Spanish speaking (preferred but not required)
