Medical Biller/Coder – Phoenix & Peoria

We are seeking a full-time Medical Biller/Coder to join our team in Phoenix or Peoria. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, dependable, and thrives in a fast-paced environment. Experience with vascular and wound care billing is preferred.

Position Overview

Responsible for overseeing the complete medical billing process, including accurate claim preparation, submission, and follow-up to ensure timely reimbursement. This role requires strong attention to detail, proficiency in resolving claim discrepancies, and expertise in managing multiple payer requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Scrub and submit claims using billing software.
• Follow up on unpaid claims within standard billing cycles.
• Review EOBs for accuracy and compliance.
• Communicate with insurers to resolve claim or payment discrepancies.
• Identify and bill secondary and tertiary insurance.
• Audit patient bills for accuracy and completeness.
• Research and appeal denied claims.
• Update billing software, maintain cash spreadsheets, and run collection reports.
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA and other regulatory requirements for patient data and billing practices.
• Post payments and reconcile accounts to maintain accurate financial records.
• Communicate with patients regarding billing inquiries, insurance coverage, payment options and account balances.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of recent medical billing experience required.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook.
• Strong understanding of the full revenue cycle (claims, denials, reimbursement, A/R).
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding standards.
• Experience with payer portals and electronic claim submission systems.
• Knowledge of wound care and vascular billing preferred.
• Experience with outpatient ASC claims preferred.
• Experience with NextGen EHR is a plus.
• Familiarity with compliance standards (Medicare, Medicaid, commercial insurance).
