Job Summary

We are seeking an enthusiastic and efficient Barista/Server to join our dynamic team. This multifaceted role is crucial to our takeout operation, responsible for expertly preparing a variety of coffee and tea beverages, serving our delicious baked goods, and ensuring every customer receives prompt, friendly, and accurate service.

The ideal candidate will thrive in a high-volume setting, possess excellent communication skills, and have a passion for providing a memorable experience to every guest.

Responsibilities

• Beverage Preparation:
• Prepare and serve a wide range of coffee beverages (espresso, latte, cappuccino, americano, and others) according to established recipes and quality standards.
• Operate and maintain espresso machines, grinders, and other coffee equipment.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the coffee bar area.
• Customer Service & Order Taking:
• Greet all customers warmly and efficiently as they enter.
• Accurately take food and beverage orders, offering suggestions and answering questions about menu items, ingredients, and allergens.
• Process payments accurately using the POS system and handle cash and credit card transactions.
• Ensure accurate and timely fulfillment of all orders for takeout.
• Address customer inquiries, concerns, and feedback in a professional and courteous manner.
• Maintain a positive and upbeat attitude, even during peak hours.
• Food Service & Merchandising:
• Serve bakery items (pastries, cakes, cookies, sandwiches, etc.) directly to customers.
• Ensure proper display and rotation of baked goods, maintaining an appealing and well-stocked pastry case.
• Monitor product freshness and communicate inventory needs to management.
• Package orders efficiently and accurately for takeout.
• Cleanliness & Maintenance:
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including the front counter, dining areas (if applicable for brief waiting), and restrooms.
• Regularly clean and sanitize equipment, utensils, and work surfaces.
• Assist with opening and closing duties, including stocking, cleaning, and preparing for the next shift.
• Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including food handling and sanitation standards.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a barista and server in a fast-paced food service environment preferred.
• Strong knowledge of coffee preparation techniques and espresso machine operation is a plus.
• Excellent customer service skills with a friendly and outgoing personality.
• Ability to work efficiently and accurately in a high-volume, quick-service setting.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Basic math skills for handling transactions and making change.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 40 pounds.
• Flexibility to work various shifts, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Food handler's permit/certification, if required by local regulations.
• A passion for coffee, baked goods, and creating a positive customer experience!
