ABOUT THIS POSITION
The Aviation Department manages and operates the Phoenix Airport System which consists of Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, Deer Valley Airport, and Goodyear Airport. The Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport has consistently been ranked as one of the top ten busiest airports in the nation.
Serving more than 125,000 passengers daily, with over 1,200 flights per day, the airport has a total economic impact of more than $38 billion per year.
The Aviation Department is seeking a motivated Airport Duty Manager (Aviation Superintendent) to join the Public Safety and Security Division. The Airport Duty Manager serves as the principal Aviation management representative ensuring situational awareness and the safe, secure, and efficient operation of the entire airport complex during emergencies, extreme weather, special events, and day-to-day operations.
This position is an integral part of decision making and crisis management during regular business hours and the ranking staff member on property during off hours. The Airport Executive Team will rely on this person to make decisions and give directions in their absence. This position will require working rotating shifts in a 24x7 operation including nights, weekends, and holidays.

SALARY
Pay Range
$84,468 to $137,592 annually.
Hiring Range
$84,468 to $113,193 annually.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Five years of experience in airport operations, general aviation, or maintenance.
- Three years in a supervisory capacity.
- Bachelor's degree in airport or business management, or a related field.
- Other combinations of experience and education which meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
The minimum qualifications listed above, plus
- Previous Airport or Airline Duty Manager level experience in a large hub airport.
- Experience with emergency preparedness and safety programs.
- Experience conducting after-action reviews and writing after-action reports.
- Experience in responding to and coordinating airport emergencies and incidents of all types.
- Experience with the responsibility for the over-all management of an airside or landside operation, airport maintenance program, or airline over/underwing operation at a large hub airport.
- Experience working with numerous airport stakeholders such as airlines and concessionaires and with outside agencies like the Federal Aviation Administration and Transportation Security Administration.
- American Association of Airport Executives, Accredited Airport Executive, or Certified Member designation is preferred.
- Completion of ICS classes (100, 200, 300, 400, 700, and 800).
- Experience managing staff in the following areas:
- Airport or airline security programs.
- Airport or airline operations.
- Airport or airline FAA certification and compliance programs.
- Recurring airport or airline disaster and emergency preparedness exercises.
- Monitoring and coordination of airport construction and maintenance operations as they impact daily airport operations.
