Job purpose
- Provide technical leadership in reservoir engineering and dynamic reservoir simulation to support subsurface development, reservoir management, reserves maturation, production optimization, and field development planning by:
-
- Conducting integrated reservoir engineering workflows encompassing well test design/interpretation, advanced production diagnostics including decline curve analysis, material balance, and rate-transient analysis.
-
- Monitoring, reviewing, and providing technical guidance for subsurface surveillance activities, including well performance tracking, fluid sampling programs, well testing operations, and completion/workover activities.
-
- Directing PVT and SCAL laboratory experiments from design through application, managing and QC-ing existing lab datasets, performing PVT data analysis, and developing fit-for-purpose Equations of State models and Black Oil Tables for use in simulation and production engineering workflows.
-
- Leading the construction, initialization, history matching, and production forecasting of dynamic reservoir simulation models, ensuring that models are fit-for-purpose and technically robust, to support field development decisions, reservoir management, and reserves maturation. 5)
- Contributing to field development planning and reservoir management strategy development, including the identification, evaluation, and maturation of IOR/EOR opportunities from initial screening and feasibility assessment through pilot design and potential full-field implementation. 6)
- Manage annual reserves certification in compliance with company standards and recognized industry guidelines.
-
- Working in collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, including geoscience, drilling, production engineering, facilities, and economics.
- The position will act in accordance with the Group’s Mission, Vision, Values & Strategies, as well as, policies, guidelines and standards, supported by an IT Technology platform, HSE standards, Omani’s government & other legal justification’s, and best international practices in consonance with national objectives.
Main tasks and responsibilities
- Provide technical guidance and support to help achieve the company’s performance objectives.
- Support management and the reservoir team in maintaining high technical standards and consistent reservoir engineering best practices.
- Support reserves maturation, production optimization, and field development planning.
- Evaluate well/reservoir performance and Recommend production improvement opportunities.
- Conduct PTA, RTA, material balance calculation, MDT interpretation, and DCA as required.
- Monitor wells performance, pressure trends, fluid sampling, well testing, and workover activities.
- Recommend reservoir surveillance and data acquisition programs.
- Integrate pressure, production, PVT, SCAL, and surveillance data into reservoir studies and models.
- Evaluate IOR/EOR opportunities from screening to pilot design and potential full-field implementation.
- Lead and support dynamic reservoir model construction, initialization, history matching, and forecasting.
- Provide technical guidance and assurance for reservoir engineering studies and models.
- Manage annual reserves certification in line with company standards and industry guidelines.
- Coach and mentor early career reservoir engineers.
