Regional Counsel – Corporate Governance (Insurance)

Cana Consulting is partnering exclusively with a global financial services firm is looking to appoint a Regional Legal Counsel to join its APAC legal and governance team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a lawyer with insurance experience who is looking to move into a regional role supporting corporate governance, board matters and legal advisory across multiple jurisdictions.

The organisation is open to candidates from both private practice and in-house legal backgrounds. Please take note that this role is heavy on corporate governance, some regulatory, as well as general legal.

Responsibilities

• Advise on corporate governance matters across APAC entities.
• Support regional boards and committees on governance-related matters.
• Draft board papers, resolutions and governance documentation.
• Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external advisers across multiple jurisdictions.
• Support legal documentation relating to corporate initiatives and governance projects.
• Assist with director and key executive appointments.
• Monitor regulatory and legislative developments affecting regional operations.
• Support interactions with regulators and statutory authorities where required.
• Participate in regional governance projects and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

• Qualified lawyer with approximately 4–6 years' PQE (flexible depending on experience).
• Prior experience advising insurance clients or working within the insurance industry.
• Candidates from private practice or in-house are welcome.
• Exposure to corporate, corporate governance or company secretarial matters would be advantageous.
• Strong drafting and stakeholder management skills.
• Able to work independently within a regional environment.
• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
