Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Edison Smart are partnered with a growing AEC firm looking to hire a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their growing team in Chicago IL.

As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you will lead projects from concept through construction, mentor junior staff, collaborate across disciplines, and build lasting relationships with clients.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and delivery of HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical building systems for a variety of project types.
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring quality, schedule, and budget objectives are achieved.
• Develop mechanical system concepts, perform engineering calculations, and prepare construction documents.
• Coordinate with architects, structural, electrical, and civil engineering teams throughout all project phases.
• Review drawings, specifications, and technical reports for accuracy and compliance.
• Participate in client meetings, presentations, and business development initiatives.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers and designers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.
• 6+ years of mechanical engineering experience within an AEC consulting environment.
• Strong experience designing HVAC and plumbing systems for commercial and institutional buildings.
• Proficiency with Revit MEP, AutoCAD, and mechanical load calculation software
