Senior Quality Assurance Tester

About the Position

Avid Systems is seeking an experienced Senior Quality Assurance Tester to support a mission-critical application modernization initiative for the District of Columbia Department of Motor Vehicles. The successful candidate will plan and execute comprehensive testing activities to validate application functionality, performance, integrations, security, and usability throughout the software development lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop comprehensive test strategies, test plans, test scenarios, and test cases.
• Perform functional, integration, regression, system, usability, and cross-browser testing.
• Execute manual and automated tests and document results.
• Develop and maintain automated test scripts using tools such as Selenium and ACCELQ.
• Identify, document, prioritize, and track defects through resolution.
• Manage defects and testing activities using Jira and Micro Focus ALM.
• Review business and technical requirements to establish acceptance criteria and testing coverage.
• Validate database information by writing and executing SQL queries.
• Test REST APIs and application integrations.
• Participate in design reviews, requirements sessions, code reviews, and Agile ceremonies.
• Collaborate with developers, business analysts, project managers, clients, and end users.
• Produce testing reports, maintain testing artifacts, and communicate risks or issues to project leadership.
• Ensure testing activities comply with District of Columbia security and technology standards.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• At least 8 years of software quality assurance and testing experience.
• Extensive experience developing and executing manual test cases.
• Experience with test case management and defect-tracking tools, including:
• Jira
• Micro Focus ALM
• Strong SQL skills for validating database records and application data.
• Experience testing REST APIs and system integrations.
• Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle and Agile delivery practices.
• Ability to analyze functional business requirements and translate them into technical test scenarios.
• Experience participating throughout the development lifecycle, from requirements and design through deployment.
• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, documentation, and attention-to-detail skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience working with version-control systems.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience creating automated tests using Selenium, ACCELQ, or similar tools.
• Knowledge of application security testing practices.
• Experience testing enterprise applications or ERP systems.
• Familiarity with government technology environments and security requirements.
• Experience testing applications involving workflow management, data warehousing, supply chain, logistics, procurement, or other enterprise business processes.
