Junior Content Writer, Sifted

is looking for a creative writer to join our content team and gain valuable experience in the world of media. This is an exciting training role for a recent graduate, or a writer with one to two years of editorial experience, who has a strong interest in the tech and startup industries.Sifted

About the Role

You will play a key role in supporting our branded content work — from feature articles to newsletters and event coverage – while learning the business of media and sponsored storytelling. Alongside writing, you’ll have the opportunity to collaborate with clients, editors, and campaign managers, gaining hands-on experience in how high-quality branded content is developed and delivered.

What You’ll Do

• Produce branded content, including feature articles, newsletter copy, and Sifted Talks event coverage
• Interview clients, experts, and industry leaders to create insightful and engaging stories
• Research startup and tech industry trends to inform content
• Work closely with the campaign manager and editorial team to ensure sponsored content meets client briefs and deadlines
• Maintain high editorial standards, ensuring branded content is as strong as our independent journalism
• Assist with commercial copy projects, such as video scripts, podcast storylines, events, and social media content
• Collaborate with senior editors to develop your skills in pitching and creative project management
• Contribute to non-sponsored editorial stories when workload allows, building your portfolio and network within the startup ecosystem

What We’re Looking For

• Demonstrable writing experience, preferably in digital news or business publishing (student publications welcome)
• Proven copyediting and subediting skills
• Skilled at crafting digital-first headlines
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Confidence in fact checking, interviewing, and researching
• Excellent relationship management and collaboration skills
• Highly organised, with the ability to juggle multiple assignments
• Proactive and adaptable, able to work independently or in a team
• Knowledge of the startup and tech industry is desirable
