Design Build Crew Member

The Design Build Crew will be required to assist the crew leader or the lead hand in preparing the job site for day-to-day activities. They will be tasked with cleaning and preparation of job sites and operating a variety of tools and equipment to complete the job.

PRIMARY DUTIES

• Clean and perform preparation of work-site.
• Lubricate, clean, maintain and repair machinery, equipment, and tools.
• Load, unload, and identify building materials, machinery, and tools, and distribute them to the appropriate locations, according to project plans and specifications.
• Provide physical labor, including heavy lifting.
• Measure, mark, and record openings and distances to lay out areas where construction work will be performed.
• Perform demolition work and salvage useful materials.
• Read and interpret plans, instructions, blueprints, structural drawings, rough sketches, and specifications to determine work activities.
• Interact professionally with clients and assist them through any issues they may have.
• Other duties as assigned by management.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Physical ability to lift up to 50lb
• Travel to off-site locations may be required
• Safety equipment will be required, e.g., green omega safety boots, safety glasses/goggles, etc.
• Overtime as required
• Hazards associated with the trade
• Work both indoors and outdoors

APPLICANT REQUIREMENTS

• Completion of college/CEGEP/vocational or technical training in Horticulture or Landscape Technology
• Appropriate credentials and certifications, including WHMIS, First Aid, CPR
• Previous experience in landscape construction is an asset
• Strong knowledge of landscaping equipment, materials, and best practices
• Possess a valid driver’s license
• Work independently in a busy environment
• Experience with routine maintenance operations
• Effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
• Work well under pressure
• Strong attention to detail
• Interact with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times
• Willing to teach and learn from others

SALARY RANGE

$21 – $40+ per hour
