Certified Dental Assistant

Job Summary

Duties

• Assist the dentist during a variety of dental procedures including general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, oral surgery, endodontics, and prosthodontics.
• Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental equipment, and ensuring all supplies are ready for patient care.
• Take and develop dental X-rays and 3D scans while adhering to safety protocols and radiation safety standards.
• Manage patient records using electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic; ensure all documentation complies with HIPAA regulations.
• Perform clinical tasks such as vital signs measurement, medical imaging, and maintaining aseptic technique to prevent infection.
• Process dental instruments according to sterilization procedures and infection prevention management policies.
• Support patient management by scheduling appointments, updating medical histories, and providing pre- and post-treatment instructions.

Requirements

• Valid certification as a Dental Assistant with current licensure or registration as required by local regulations.
• Proven experience in dental assisting within a busy dental clinic environment; familiarity with general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, oral surgery, endodontics, and prosthodontics is highly desirable.
• Proficiency with dental software including Dentrix, Eaglesoft, Patient management software, and Medical documentation systems like Epic.
• Strong knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, anatomy knowledge related to oral structures, and dental equipment operation.
• Experience with X-ray procedures, dental sterilization procedures, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques.
• Ability to perform chairside assisting using four-handed dentistry techniques efficiently.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to provide compassionate patient care while maintaining clinical confidentiality policies.
• Knowledge of healthcare infection prevention and control standards including HIPAA compliance is essential.

Pay: $24.20 - $29.15 per hour
