Job Title: Register Dental Assistant (RDA)

Reports To: Dentist

Department: Clinical

Summary

Person is responsible for patient care and clinical duties surrounding patient care. Person is primary in operations and must be self determined with good judgment. Must be able to make decisions quickly and perform efficiently.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Scheduling with production

Experience with Dentrix in verifying insurance and filing claims

Following up with Insurance companies

Understanding CDT Codes in Dentistry

Chairside Dental Assistant

Assist the doctor in complete comprehensive clinical patient care

Having Dexis and Dentrix experience a Plus

Set up various procedures as instructed

Take Xrays as instructed

Clean instruments as instructed

Seat patients and address any problems that the patient might having

Discuss the with the doctor the chief complaint of the patient

Explain to patient their condition at hand with the aid of videos and x-rays

Set up operatory for procedures

Take impression, create, trim check occlusion and cement provisional restoration for crowns

Perform routine prophy

Adjust dentures and partials

Line, itch, bond, and fill composite restorations

Take necessary x-ray to diagnose cases includes periapical film. Cephalometric film, TMJ film, and panoramic films

Check inventory to have a record of what product is high or low keep track of supplies needed by writing supplies on supply list

Order supplies

Clean autoclave once a week with solution speed cleaner

Check the instrumentation per operatory in relation to the follow of patients

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully individual must be skilled and trained in all clinical procedures. Must be able to use good judgment and be able to communicate with patients so that they fully comprehend their condition. Must possess a pleasant and professional chair side manner and able to work under stressful conditions.

Education/ Experience

Dental Assistant School or Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Certified from and accredited dental assistant program.

Language Ability

Ability to read, understand, and communicate common medical and dental terminology. Ability to conjugate complete sentences.

Computer Skills

Person should have knowledge of Microsoft Office software and Dental software (Dentrix)

Certificates and Licenses

Dental Assistance Certification required

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel, talk, and hear. The employee is frequently required to walk; reach with hands and arms. The employee occasionally is required to stoop, kneel, and crouch. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Specific visions abilities are required by this job includes; close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
