House Manager & Family Assistant with Meal Prep Support - Portland Heights ($33-$40/hr)

Location: Portland Heights, Portland, OR 97201

Compensation

$33-$40/hour, based on experience

Schedule: Part-time, 10-15 hours/week, 2-3 days per week, flexible Monday-Friday between 12:00pm-4:00pm

Start Date: ASAP - Mid-August

ABOUT OUR FAMILY

We are a warm, thoughtful family of four who recently settled into our home in Portland Heights. Our household includes two young daughters (ages 3 and 5), two hypoallergenic cats, and possibly a rescue dog joining us soon.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Household Organization & Maintenance

• Create and maintain household organization systems
• Daily resets and light tidying (dishes, surfaces, vacuuming)
• Prep the home ahead of weekly cleaner visits
• Seasonal swaps for clothing, bedding, and decor
• Coordinate donation drop-offs
• Prep home for play-dates, holidays, and guests
• Travel packing/unpacking
• Maintain indoor plants
• Handle small maintenance tasks (batteries, light bulbs, smoke detectors)

Deep Cleaning & Special Projects

• Organizational projects throughout the home as the family settles in
• Organize/refresh garage, basement, and entry area
• Clean humidifiers and air purifiers

Inventory & Errands

• Restock pantry, fridge, and household supplies
• Manage orders/subscriptions (Amazon, Costco, Target, Thrive Market, Chewy)
• Handle returns, dry cleaning, and occasional gift shopping
• Sort mail, manage packages, break down boxes

Meal Support

• Prepare 2 dinners/week (batch-style or fresh)
• Prep healthy after-school snacks/lunch fixings for the kids
• Wash/prep fresh fruits and veggies weekly
• Grocery shop according to organic, whole-food, grass-fed preferences
• Optimize shopping across Trader Joe's, Thrive Market, and other vendors
• Keep kitchen tidy and organized (lunchboxes, snack boxes, water bottles, containers)

Laundry & Linens

• Wash, dry, fold, and put away full family laundry
• Occasional steaming/special garment care
• Manage linen and towel rotation
• Keep laundry area tidy and stocked

Pet Care

• Schedule vet and grooming appointments
• Maintain pet supplies via Chewy subscription

Vehicle Upkeep

• Clean/organize family vehicles as needed
• Track registration and insurance

Family Support

• Light backup childcare for occasional date nights or day dates
• Maintain playroom; rotate toys/crafts and prep activities

Vendor & Property Oversight

• Support household projects
• Assist with contractor coordination during upcoming kitchen remodel
• Manage/tidy outdoor spaces (toys, mud kitchen, patio)

Administrative & Personal Assistant Support

• Manage household calendar and coordinate appointments (medical, dental, personal)
• Support travel planning and logistics
• Coordinate events and special occasions

• Highly organized, dependable, and detail-oriented
• Naturally proactive - you notice what needs attention without being asked
• Comfortable juggling daily tasks, larger projects, and shifting priorities
• Warm and professional, with healthy boundaries
• Comfortable providing occasional backup childcare
• Calm, trustworthy, and discreet

REQUIREMENTS

• Must maintain a smoke-free, fragrance-free environment (no scented personal care products, detergents, or household products)
• CPR and First Aid certified, or willing to obtain prior to start
• Reliable personal transportation (mileage reimbursed for work-related errands)
• Comfortable with pets (2 hypoallergenic cats, possibly a future dog)
• Must be authorized to work in the United States
• Must pass a background check
