The purpose of this posting is to gather interest for future opportunities. Please note there may not be an existing vacancy at the time of your submission. This position performs reviews of complex development proposals and plans for compliance with Title 33 Zoning Code and applicable environmental codes, approval criteria, requirements and regulations.
Typical assigned reviews include Environmental and Greenway reviews to evaluate whether the development proposal has the least detrimental impact to inventoried resources and functional values, and that unavoidable impacts are mitigated.
In addition, this position may review property line adjustment applications; conduct parcel, mapping and zoning analysis; respond to questions from other bureaus, developers, professionals, and interested parties; and be assigned phone and counter shifts in the Development Services Center to provide information to customers and review permits.
The City Planner II – Environmental will also meet the Bureau's expectations of providing excellent customer service in an equitable manner to meet the needs of the City of Portland's community. Fluency in a second language is desirable, but not required.
Potential future positions in the Bureau of Planning and Sustainability in this classification may involve research, analysis, and development of policies and regulations related to watershed and ecological health, natural hazard prevention and mitigation, and related topics.
As technical advisors, environmental planners in the Bureau of Planning and Sustainability inform and advise land use and infrastructure planning projects and respond to inquiries related to natural resource conservation and protection.
