Java Developer

Onsite in Salt Lake City, UT

Our client seeks a software engineer to build and enhance customer-focused APIs that power digital experiences in financial planning, investing, and retirement. You will design, develop, and deploy reusable Java and Spring-based services in an agile environment, emphasizing quality, scalability, and CI/CD practices.

The role contributes to web and mobile platforms, collaborates across teams, and supports large-scale digital capabilities for brokerage and personal investing journeys.

Rate: $70.00 to $65.00/hr. w2

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain reusable APIs and web services that support large-scale digital experiences.
• Develop RESTful services using Java, Spring MVC, and Spring Core with strong focus on customer experience.
• Apply CI/CD practices to reduce cycle time and deploy changes safely using techniques such as A/B testing, blue-green deployments, and feature toggles.
• Build highly scalable services leveraging algorithms, data structures, and design patterns to support high transaction volumes.
• Practice test-first development with modern testing frameworks to ensure high quality releases.
• Measure and use data to inform engineering decisions and balance intuition with evidence.
• Collaborate within agile, cross-functional teams to deliver iterative value across the full development lifecycle.
• Share knowledge, participate in technical discussions, and contribute to the engineering community.

Experience Requirements

• 2+ years of software development experience delivering Java web services and API solutions.
• Hands-on experience with SOA, RESTful services, XML/JSON, and modern application servers.
• Proficiency with Java, J2EE, Spring MVC, Spring Core, and JavaScript.
• Knowledge of API design principles including versioning, isolation, and microservices.
• Familiarity with DevOps and CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Maven, uDeploy, Stash, and Docker.
• Working knowledge of testing frameworks including JUnit, Mockito, and Spring Test.
• Experience with web application development using JSP, HTML, CSS/SASS, jQuery, Angular, and Node.js.
• Experience with agile methodologies such as Kanban or Scrum.
• Knowledge of cloud environments and applications (AWS, Azure).
• Knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills to work with global teams.

Education Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with a computer science background.
• AWS certification (preferred).
• Azure certification (preferred).
