PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The Director of Human Resources serves as the senior Human Resources leader for Today's Dental Network, providing both strategic leadership and hands-on operational support across all areas of Human Resources.
This is a working HR Director role for a leader who enjoys remaining actively involved in employee relations, compliance, investigations, leadership coaching, and HR operations while partnering with executive leadership to support organizational growth.
The ideal candidate thrives in a lean, fast-paced environment and is equally comfortable advising executives on organizational strategy as they are rolling up their sleeves to solve day-to-day HR challenges.
This role partners closely with HR Operations, Payroll, Finance, Legal, and practice leadership to build scalable processes, strengthen organizational effectiveness, and support the continued growth of Today's Dental Network.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Employee Relations & Leadership Support
- Lead complex employee relations matters, workplace investigations, corrective actions, conflict resolution, and performance management issues.
- Coach and advise leaders on employee performance, leadership effectiveness, policy interpretation, and workplace best practices.
- Partner with leaders to resolve sensitive employee matters while mitigating organizational and employment-related risk.
- Foster a positive, accountable workplace culture through consistent leadership support and employee engagement initiatives.
HR Operations & Process Improvement
- Partner closely with HR Operations to ensure alignment between strategic HR initiatives and day-to-day operational execution.
- Oversee and continuously improve HR policies, procedures, workflows, and employee lifecycle processes.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, strengthen internal controls, and build scalable HR systems and processes that support organizational growth.
- Collaborate with HR Operations to support workforce reporting, HR metrics, and data-driven decision-making.
Strategic HR Leadership
- Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership on organizational structure, workforce planning, employee engagement, and performance management.
- Participate in leadership meetings and support board-related HR initiatives as needed.
- Develop practical HR strategies, policies, and programs that support organizational growth and business objectives.
- Build strong cross-functional partnerships that align people strategies with organizational priorities.
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
- Provide guidance regarding ADA, FMLA, accommodations, leave administration, and other employment-related compliance matters.
- Develop and maintain HR policies and practices that reduce organizational risk and promote consistent employment practices.
- Partner with leadership to proactively identify and address compliance and workplace risks.
Payroll & HR Administrative Oversight
- Provide leadership, guidance, and development support for Payroll and HR administrative team members.
- Partner with Payroll and HR Operations to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing and employee data management.
- Strengthen payroll controls, HR administrative processes, and employee record management practices.
- Collaborate with Finance, Payroll, and HR Operations to support operational accuracy and continuous process improvement.
Mergers & Acquisitions
- Lead or participate in HR due diligence and integration activities related to acquisitions and organizational growth.
- Coordinate onboarding and transition planning for newly acquired practices.
- Partner with leadership to support organizational change management and employee communication throughout integrations.
- Identify and resolve operational and employee-related challenges during acquisitions and organizational transitions.
Compensation & Organizational Development
- Partner with leadership on compensation benchmarking, market alignment, job leveling, and organizational design initiatives.
- Support the development and administration of employment agreements, provider compensation structures, executive offers, and incentive programs.
- Coach leaders on talent development, succession planning, and organizational effectiveness.
- Recommend improvements that strengthen leadership capability, employee development, and long-term organizational growth.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Demonstrated experience leading the full spectrum of Human Resources functions, including employee relations, investigations, compliance, performance management, HR operations, and leadership support, in a lean or growing organization
- Experience supporting multi-site operations
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive Human Resources experience
- Minimum of 5 years of experience managing complex employee relations matters, workplace investigations, and performance-related issues
- Experience supporting fast-paced, high-growth organizations with evolving operational needs
- Experience supporting executive leadership in a fast-paced and growing organization
- Strong knowledge of federal and state employment laws and HR compliance requirements
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage confidential and sensitive information with professionalism and discretion
- Proficiency with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office applications

- HR experience within healthcare, dental, or multi-site service organizations
- Experience partnering closely with executive leadership and supporting board-level initiatives and discussions
- Experience working within private equity-backed or high-growth organizations
- Mergers & acquisitions integration experience
- SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification
- Experience supporting organizational change management initiatives
- Familiarity with UKG Ready or similar HRIS platforms
- Strong background in organizational development and leadership coaching

Compensation Range
$130k - $155k
