Payroll Clerk

Job Summary

Our client, a mid-sized manufacturing company, is seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Clerk to support payroll operations for hourly and salaried employees. This role is responsible for assisting with the accurate and timely processing of payroll, maintaining payroll records, and helping resolve payroll-related issues.

The ideal candidate will have experience with ADP Workforce Now and prior payroll experience in a manufacturing environment, including exposure to timekeeping, overtime, shift differentials, and high-volume employee populations.

Key Responsibilities

• Process weekly, biweekly, or semi-monthly payroll for hourly and salaried employees using ADP Workforce Now
• Review and audit employee timecards for accuracy, including regular hours, overtime, shift differentials, and other payroll adjustments
• Maintain payroll records, including new hires, terminations, direct deposit updates, tax changes, and wage adjustments
• Assist in ensuring payroll compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
• Research and resolve payroll discrepancies in coordination with HR, supervisors, and department managers
• Support payroll-related deductions, garnishments, benefits, and other withholdings
• Reconcile payroll reports and assist with payroll-related journal entries as needed
• Respond to employee questions regarding payroll, deductions, and timekeeping
• Assist with payroll audits and year-end activities, including W-2 preparation and reporting
• Maintain confidentiality and accuracy in handling employee payroll information

Qualifications

• 2+ years of payroll processing experience
• Hands-on experience with ADP Workforce Now required
• Prior payroll experience in a manufacturing environment required
• Strong understanding of payroll processes for hourly employees, including overtime and shift-based pay
• Knowledge of payroll laws, tax withholding, and wage and hour compliance
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills
• Effective communication and problem-solving abilities
• Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field preferred
