Type: Contract-to-Hire

Hourly Pay Rate: $34 per hour

Shift: Monday - Friday: 8:30 AM - 5:30 PM

Key Responsibilities

The Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) is responsible for assisting the Dentist in patient care by discussing the patient's needs and concerns.

The RDA performs duties such as: prepare the patient for treatment, assist the dentist in performing treatment to the patient in restorative dentistry or oral surgery, prepare materials and equipment for treatment and have ready for the dentist's use, take x-rays, assist the dentist in the laboratory.

Education & Experience

• A current Registered Dental Assistant License
• One year or more of experience as a Registered Dental Assistant required
• Coronal polishing certification required
• California Sealant Certification preferred
• Experience with Dexis digital x-ray software required
• Experience fabricating Night guards and bleach trays required
• Experience performing Zoom teeth whitening required
• Experience assisting other dental specialties required
• Knowledge of EPIC electronic Health Records System required
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office software
• Proficiency in verbal and written English is required; proficiency in a second language (especially Spanish, Mandarin, or Vietnamese) is desirable.

Duties and responsibilities

• Assist chairside with procedures.
• Actively participate in the Perfect Patient Experience by striving to keep patients focused on optimal treatment while attending to their individual concerns.
• Perform procedures as allowed by Dental Board of California and as directed by Dentist.
• Maintain a clean, sterile and cheerful environment where patients feel comfortable, prepare them treatment, and assist the doctors – thereby enabling them to provide efficient, quality dental treatment.
• Obtain dental history and/or records from patient (review patient health history and care slips). Ensure that the health history is updated for all returning patients.
• Escort patients to/from the front desk and introduce them to the exit clerk.
• Prepare tray setups for dental procedures, and maintain adequate supply levels in each operatory, replenishing as needed.
• Complete x-rays for Adults and Pediatric patients as appropriate.
• Fabricate temporary crowns and bridges.
• Sterilize and disinfect instruments and equipment.
• Instruct patients on postoperative and general oral health care.
• Prepare materials for making impressions and restorations.
• Maintain all logs required in compliance with prescribed audit tools.
• Maintain monthly check of Emergency medical kit, Oxygen tanks and oxygen masks (adult and children).
• Maintain adequate inventory of Dental supplies.
• Place orders for Dental supplies in accordance with purchase protocols.
• Demonstrate oral hygiene care procedure and techniques.
• Perform prophylaxis on children and apply fluoride treatment.
• Hand instruments and materials to dentists and keep patients’ mouths dry and clear by using suction or other devices.
• Record patient charting and all doctor notes on treatment record. Ensure the doctor signs treatment record consents and healthy history.
• Act in accordance with those set forth as per the applicable State’s Dental Auxiliaries.
• Clean each operatory in accordance with the American Dental Association guidelines.
• Maintains strict compliance with State, Federal and other regulations, (e.g., OSHS, WC, Dental Board, HIPAA, ADA, FEHA, DOL, HR policies and practices).
